Hi there I just built a new rig but having ram issues When I put both (4GB) sticks in the computer refuses to boot, it only boots with one stick of ram i have swapped the sticks over to see if one is broken but they both seem to work.

Here is my Motherboard and Ram

Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB)

Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155)

First start with a ClearCMOS, power off at the wall, drop the battery for a minute and re-fit.

Set RAM voltage to 1.56 or 1.60 in the BIOS manually.

I have the same board/RAM and it took abit of fiddling to get them running nicely.

Page 36 of the motherboards manual explains how to load XMP in the BIOS, the timings etc are then set for you.

When you fit both RAM sticks in, which slots are you using, it should be the RAm slot closest to the CPU, skip one, then fit the other.

Ok thanks Sehcure and Stulid :) Me and my brother been putting the computer together for about 5hours lol and I'm really tired now lol So I'm going to catch some sleep and try what you guys said, I'll keep you updated tomorrow :) Fingers crossed it will work!

Thanks again guys :)

Based on intels its ok.

Based on OcUK's advice (after discussion with Intel) it isn't.

I'll say it again, why take the chance of using 1.65V when there's plenty of RAM available now, and has been available for a while, which will will work perfectly happily at 1.6V or less and quite often nearer 1.5V.
