I've always felt /home is cheating a bitit would be much easier to type/home than use a complicated trail line.
For a beginner they can only get so far, it's not really community transport, it's only transport to one of three (?) different builds that have track. If I want to get to a NE sector on a map, then I could look for the nearest station, then keep going N or E to get there, a bit like navigating around NY, you don't actually need a map to get from 1st Av to 5th Av.The current track we use is simplified, you can see other build's, not only that it's more scenic, having an + for each build would be so confusing of which line to take it would become somewhat frustrating.
Umm, not understanding that...it would mean mining would become annoyance of accidental greifers, people accidentally getting 3 ban or even worse. That's why the sky trail line was implemented.
Umm, not understanding that...Unless you mean accidentally running into someone's build which is 200 blocks deep or something ?
How about a simplified idea, four tracks going from spawn right out to N,S,E and W ? Then maybe another set covering the edge of the map, then any of these overland tracks would only have to run to the nearest primary line.
I've found a position that has fairly rounded XY co-ords, I think I'll see how far I can get across the map towards my first build, I reckon 30 (?) stone pickaxes will get me to the centre line opposite spawn.
I also have a large amount of sand if someone wants it ?
Sort of, for the convience of the builds at the end of each I think because they wander around a bit. That then ruins the landscape for people not wanting a non-period artefact running next door, not unlike a Pokemon next to a castle.Correct me if I'm wrong, but does the spawn rail not already go out in 4 directions? I think it actually only goes North, East and West. Might be wrong though.
OK I've started building one as an experiment since someone doubted I'd contribute, running parallel to spawn to avoid people. Since it only took minutes to make and seconds to reach I'm running it at bedrock level, I'm assuming nobody has anything at bedrock ? If I had a mine then frankly I'd not be that concerned if a railway ran through it, mines are mined and then abandoned. Also digging it underground is a horrible horrible idea. Not only do you have to tackle head on the problem of falling into lava, lava leaking in from the sides and stuff, you also have to deal with the occasional time you end up in a users build.
Building is easy, 2x1 and water for lava, I know where I'm going because F3 gives me my coordinates and I dig in a straight line. Regardless of where I am, I'll terminate the line at a nice round co-ordinate and then head for the surface.Overall I think that an over-land rail system would be far easier to manage/build. You can openly see where you are going, you will know if you are about to hit someones build and it is just simple to add to it.
On this server, surely people fix their griefs ? Even on day one when I got blown up by a creeper I fixed his wall. Mining tunnels that criss-cross shouldn't be a problem, so long as any track is undisturbed. I can't see a long tunnel on the map ?Also quick note, I did build a giant railway that goes from spawn to a winter biome, it has rarely been used and is in fact griefed to hell and back again.
Hey guys is there anything that I can do to my computer to increase my fps on minecraft as I've only getting 30fps
Whats wrong with that? it's minecraft, not an FPS game. 30fps should play perfectly fine.
Play around with the settings in the options

Something like that should increase FPS, you can also try optifine.

Also make sure you are using the latest Java both 32bit + 64bit (if you are on a 64bit OS).
SuperGinge if you could please report the greifing issues via the ticket system in-game when you are next on, I know you might not be too fussed about the griefing but I am![]()

So far the construction has hit one lava pool which yes is awkward but then I have picked up lots of diamonds as a result, which I was going to have to mine for anyway so I might as well construct something useful as a result. Normally I just mine in a zig-zag, so just building in a line is exactly the same and I'll find a safe underground tunnel useful in the future, it'll mean I can reach other areas for wood because I'm in a desert/ice biome.

If building above ground was easy then all lines would be straight and not diverted around people's build or permission sought to pass through. They would also bother to make something more akin to the visually appealing Iron bridge near Telford rather that the ugly space age floating rail we have now.
Building overland is really hard to do properly because I've tried building a very long Roman wall before, not only do you run into fog issues that limit line of sight, you can't easily plan a route to avoid water or tall hills, both of which have to be cut through or foundations laid first. Building sky rails is lazy IMO and ruins peoples views, I've yet to see a rail more than one block across and with even the pretence of architectural supportIt makes me sad because there are some nice building being made, but rails are done merely for convience rather than a significant buildings in their own right.
