as some of you may have noticed from my previous ramblings in here we've finally saw sense and got shot of the alfa.

enter the new runabout.

tis a 2006(56) focus zetec climate.

sensible shoes were certainly on when we bought this. I drove a lot of these when i worked with ford and I cant believe i'd forgotten just how decent these are.

for those that are interested(or bored) its a 1.8TDCI with all of 113 bhp 0-60 i gave up counting the seconds and it will quite happily do 70.

Wife approves, mainly due to the fact the fuel guage hasnt moved since monday(so its more economical than an LCR anda 165 bhp petrol alfa (shock horror) and it hasnt broken down so far.

plans so far

wash it
fit an ipod connection to the aux on the stereo
and err thats about it.

All in all a very capable and quite sensible purchase for school run and supermarket trip duties.

Things that annoy me.
the bleeding heated front windscreen, my vectra doesnt have one and after playing with one again it made me realise just how good they are.

some berk has hammered weights onto one of the back alloys ruining what is otherwise an unmarked and pristine set of wheels.

theres a small dent in the rear passenger door thats annoyed me that much its now booked in for paintless dent removal(only bad mark on the car.

important bits and bobs

save the questions

4 1/2 grand with a years tax and ticket 3 year warranty thrown in from axa. 90k miles with FFSH to verify reciept for a suspension refresh in early 2011 and a new clutch in dec 2011 at a frankly ridiculous cost of £800

Clutch might have included DMF thats why it was so expensive?

Seems like a good buy for what you need it for.

What do the weights on alloys do?

Only thing i dont like about this mk focus is the passanger footwell is very tight

3 Year Warranty on a 2006?! Wow!

underwriten by axa. we pay the first £35 of any claim and once the car tops 100k 10% of the total bill too. 20% between 110-120k 30% between 120-130k and so on.

quick update though- the wife is still impressed that she's not been near a petrol station yet. loves the fact she's only used 1/4 of a tank all week- quick check reveals an average of 46mpg :)
