New to the site and this is my 1st thread , so any help would be great .

Just sold my gtx 570 and now looking for something with a bit more kick . I have around £500 to spend on a new card but not sure what to go for . I play on 1 screen at 1080 p , would sli be the way to go or just the one card .

Thanks very much

I was looking at the ati 7970 cards but not sure to hold out for the new nvidia series

i play battlefied 3 and looking to play diablo 3 . My setup is

intel i5 2500k
asus p8p67 b3 motherboard
2 X 120gb ocs agility 3
16 ripjaw ram
corsair hx850 psu

is sli better when using more than 1 monitor ?

If i was going to go sli what motherboard would you recommend

The new Nvidia card is the 670ti. It is not in the same range as the 7970. The best that is hoped from it is that it can keep pace or beat a 580 yet run cooler and thus overclock more.

But in all the crap talking Nvidia have stopped short of claiming that it's faster than the 7970 (though they have said it claims the 7950's head) and their high end card won't materialise until Q3.

It seems we do know when Nvidia's new stuff will be out, so it's likely that you'll be waiting quite a while! Not that we can really say when it'll be.

The 7970 will have no problem at 1080p.

SLI/CF improves performance, most of the time it is overkill for a single screen, especially at 1080p. You motherboard supports crossfire but not SLI.

Personally, I'd just get a 7970.

Hmmm, it does seem to be yes. It's 11" and yours supports 10.5"

What is the maximum length graphics card supported?
The CM Storm Scout is designed with portability in mind. It can accommodate the largest 280GTX or HD 4870 X2 type cards. This includes all GPU 10.5" or 267mm in length or shorter. GPU cards have a maximum clearance for 10.6" or 270mm maximum length inside the Scout.

Someone with the case might be able to say if you could get it to fit, or you either get a different GPU or a new case?

Can I ask why you sold your 570?

Fair enough.

So you basically want a 7950, or 7970 which would require a new case, but they are very good.

Or you get two 6950/6970s in CF (bare in mind 1 6950 won't be an upgrade from a 570, but 2 would be better of course!) I must say I've had no experience with CF but it shouldn't be a problem, your motherboard and PSU will be fine for it (your PSU is very good infact :))

Rough comparisons for you:
2 6950s (approx £400) vs 570:

I'd be tempted by a new case and a 7970, but that's just me.

I wouldn't buy old technology. Not if you can afford new.

And I would recase also. Makes a nice change to recase. I do it often with my second rig :D

Yeah I'd either get a new case, or mod that one.

It doesn't have to be expensive, I have a BitFenix Shinobi, it can fit a 300mm (12") GPU in. Sure it blocks some HDD slots but most people dont need them all.

Anyway, if you're happy to mod it/try it, why not. I modded my first ever PC because the GPU didn't fit (wasn't a reference card, but I thought it was :s looked exactly the same! oops)
