If I was ever going to build something mega I would love to put together the Black Mesa facility from Half Life. But looking on Youtube I see that someone else is already making it, and probably 100 times better than I ever could....so..... meh -.-
 
Admins how do you feel about our own created event's for players?

I'm thinking of events for the community and prizes to won at the end but not sure whether this is allowed or not.
 
Community are free to do what they like as long as its within the rules :D

But with community driven events don't expect the admins to do all the work and correct stuff when it goes wrong. For example someone hoarding all the hidden chests etc

Adding cats was fun, adding villagers was fun, adding some odd portal thing that let you acquire a block you could set on fire wasn't top of my fun list.


I'm still using stone axes because they are cheap to acquire. Now using iron axes because I'm underground, and maybe switch to diamond when I have a stock. What is the point of faffing about getting blaze rods from some other portal thing just to make a diamond pick last longer ? Just keep mining and more diamonds appear... I can't rember how many diamond picks I got through last server, probably about 6 ? Enchanting them is pretty pointless in practice and adds nothing to gameplay, as it is survival is just a matter of scattering a few torches about.
 
Ok lots of things about trains...
- Fran i don't know how much you know about it, but a simple 2x1 tunnel is not a great idea, for one - there are graphical errors whilst turning, when you get off you hurt yourself and it just looks a bit silly in general.
-When we started the overground it was on the basis that it was nice to see the scenery and peoples builds when passing them - although the tracks are not as organised as they could be, that can easily be sorted it with a few hours work on signs, and adding more wool to the tracks - there is a sort of colour code atm.
-The nether (i'm sure you know) is faster to travel in than overground also like the last maps we had awesome glass train tunnels going through lava scenery etc so t'would be far more viable.
-yes the idea initially was to have a main line in each cardinal diection and branch, but as the nature of things is in MC - especially with a large community we have many people building onto tracks, that is fine - they just need to be signposted, labelled, and eventually mapped onto carto for people to see. you speak of day1 -day100. but that is exactly what this takes aswell.

-not having a go! We did have underground 3x3 h/w underground tracks a few maps back, but people just didn't really like them as much!

also, you dont need blaze rods for ench'ing? :O

I made a cobblestone generator and just used stone/iron axes, I didn't really do deep mining, I was more interested in building with what I had :)
Actually the admin gave me a chest full of diamond because they all wanted to play as creative and I just wanted survival, so I didn't like to use it.

I sort of envisioned junctions as being open areas with some kind of switch ? I'm assuming other people know how all that works, I clearly didn't and just went round and round in circles... :o

No, really, I've no idea what it does, it just seemed some pointless map thing that nobody used :confused:

There are a lot of plus sides to a dictatorship when it comes to city planning :)

Ooo, you are right, ta, I only read the potion thing and thought "Pfft, boring" :o
I expect it's probably useful for the games though ?
