Hello,

At a mates house I went to the toilet, I went in and stepped in something wet, I told him his toilet is wet and he replied ''that's water'', well apparantly it wasn't  (ugh) as my foot smelled like pee after, I noticed it when I got home later on the day.

Now, this got into my left shoe, now every time I take off wear that shoe I end up having a smelly left sock.

I've tried soaking it in water and washing powder, lots of Deo, etcetc, I think it still vaguely smells.

Any tips on getting it clean again ? Can I chuck it in the washing machine ?

Meh, it's a nearly new pair :(. Only got them a week or 3.

Can you wash shoes though in the washing machine ?

Depends how theyre made. If you value them I wouldn't put them through the wash. The glue could seperate and youll be left with a load of bits. It's happened to me before. It can also **** up your machine!

Id get a new pair and a new friend...

if they're just a pair of trainers then throw then in the machine on a 30 wash. If it's a choice of doing that or binning then, put them in the wash first in case they can be salvaged?

FYI, I've put a pair of white fred perry's in the washing machine today and they're fine. Albeit I didn't get the marks out that I wanted to, but more fool me for wearing them to a club/gig

Quick wash at 30, only put in a tiny amount of detergent. Then fill them with newspaper and leave in an airing cupboard for a few days

Chuck them both in or they'll look different

Were the soles of your shoes made of sponge? Not sure I own any shoes where liquid immediately seeps upwards upon contact.

Either way, a quick wash, no spin cycle, inside a pillow case, and do both - otherwise they may be forever different.

I think he means he was wearing socks, stepped in pee, was told it was water, put shoes on later, sweat/pee absorbed into inner soles of shoe, leading to smelly shoe.

Ahhh, that makes perfect sense. I blame the cider. Washing machine in a pillowcase as above then :)
