i have an akasa venom to which i have added another fan for push pull. asrock extreme 3 gen3 mobo, 8g hyperx, i5 2500k. in my case i have 4 120mm intake fans an 2 120mm exahust fans.
i have overclocked my i5 to 4.5g with 1.245 vcore (in bios) 1.255 in cpuz, llc level 1, ppl 1.79v the rest on auto. after 10 runs of maximum intel burntest i am hitting a high core temp of 75c
afaik 75c is fine for a stress test but with a low vcore shud my cooler not be able to keep this a good bit cooler. i have reset the cooler 3 times now (grain of rice method) no change in temps, using mx-4 paste.
so do you think i have a hot chip or a crap cooler?
 
Thats higher than what I get with a Antec 920 and the Titan Fenrir I use to have.

What are you using to read the temps? I use realtemp as below, heres my results.

feels like its screwed down as far as the screws will go so i cud try a little washer to pack it down a lil bit further. cheers for that idea stulid ill have a go and report back at the weekend :)
 
Then it probably is tight enough.

Are all the fans in the case working together for a front to back flow?
 
intake 1 bottom 2 front and 1 side. exahust rear and rear top. used the same config to cool my q6600 @ 3.3g with an ocz vengance cooler.
 
I forgot to add, my results above are immediately after 10minutes with Prime95 stressing the CPU.

10mins of prime. would much rather have ur temps with the Fenrir, think i might look into getting a new cooler soon
 
I vote "crap cooler". I had a Venom Pico, and it just wasnt very good. I could only overclock to 4.2 before temps got too much, and then it was still hot.

I upgraded to a proper cooler and i can do 5Ghz.

The Venom looks better than the Venom Pico but still not the best.

10 min prime @ 4.6GHz, NH D-14 with speed throttle cable fitted to fans and 3 Akasa Apache Super Silent 120mm - 4 Pin PWM fans in an Antec P180.
Room temp is 22.3 C.

 
new cooler getting ordered soon. im using 1.25v for 4.5g and @ 4.6g 1.3v ur getting similar temps. cheers for the replies fella's :)
