So i have a HD Radeon 6950 and i plugged in another monirot the other day and had my dual screen setup up perfectly while im working. (Not gaming).
But i have another spare monitor and want to give eyefinity a go.

So i hooked up my 3rd monitor but it doesnt show up!
Whats the problem?

Monitor 1 - HDMI
Monitor 2 - DVI
monitor 3 - DVI

I have a 1920x1080 23" middle monitor (The one linked with HDMI, not sure if my card has minidisplay or not)
The other 2 are small 19" 1280x1024 dell monitors and they are linked to the two toher DVI ports with DVI to VGA connectors. The connectors work because i tried them one by one, its just when i add the third it doesnt recongnise it for some reaosn :/

If one of your monitors has a Displayport input? then you dont even need one of those dongles, just a cable from the mini-displayport on the card to the full size-displayport on the monitor.

I'm not sure how that is possible.

One of the DVI's on the graphics card is DVI-D (digital only) so it wouldn't work with a DVI to VGA adapter or cable.

Hmmm, it doesnt actually give any useful information. it just says to buy the graphics card i already have

It tells you exactly what you need to do:confused:

Buy the card..check

Use two of either HDMI/DVI/VGA....check (DVi+HDMI).

Use an active dongle for the other DVI....not done.

Perhaps you should tell us exactly which connections your monitors have.

The smaller monitors have VGA, any other connections?

The larger monitor has HDMI, any other connections?

Ahhhhh i see, i have no idea what active thingy is lol. BUT i have seen that my graphics card does have two mini display ports. So i will need ot invest in the dongle?

The two smaller monitors have nothing except for VGA, and the monitor has HDMI only :)

So you'll need to connect the larger monitor to the HDMI on the graphics card.

One of the smaller monitors to the DVI-I connector on the graphics card with a DVI to VGA adapter.

The second smaller monitor you'll need to connect with an active miniDisplayPort to VGA adapter.

Bit stupid how you can't hook up 3 monitors but i dont really have the cash to invest in a £30 dongle at the moment. I will have to hold it off until i have some more cash. But thanks for your help in clearing up my issue :) Both of you :)

A passive adapter may work, at least for an extended desktop.

Success! Eyefinity using passive vga adapter

It will work with Extneded and Eyefinity. I have it set up this with with a passive VGA adapter. It doesn't matter what display mode you're running, all that matters is that the third screen runs off a Displayport. StarTech Mini DisplayPort to VGA Video Adapter Converter from the jungle will work for OP. It's about £20.
