Hi guys,

i am currently looking to replace my antec 300. And at the moment looking for a full tower case. I am willing to spend £200-300. But have only found one case that i like but not so sure - corsair 800d.

Any suggestions are welcome

I suppose the question to ask is what cooling method are you going to use?

• Air cooling via a heatsink/fan
• Water cooling via a closed loop system or a custom setup

--------------------------------------------------

A 800D makes an excellent case for water cooling.

If you are sticking to air cooling then look at,

Good point, at the moment just air cooling. But I do plan on eventually upgrading to water cooling at a much later date.

I have looked at that "Coolermaster Cosmos 2" :D But that's way beyond my price range - lol...

The top end Silverstone is the TJ11, it's a massive watercooling behemoth.
The TJ07 was the predecessor of the TJ11.
The FT02 is a combination of the TJ07 and the original Raven. It's the air cooling god of cases, however more and more people are fitting it with a 180 rad. (Magicool 540 slim rad if you were looking into it)
The Raven (RV03), is thinking about it, one of Silverstone's cheapest cases. However in terms of air cooling, it's one of the best around. For £100 it's the absolute best case in the price bracket in my opinion.

You might not actually need to spend as much as your budget suggests to get a solid case. To be honest, no matter what the budget, above £150 I'd probably be considering a few cases (I'll cap it at the top of your price range):
BitFenix Shinobi XL (reviews to come, but looks like it will be promising)
Xigmatek Elysium
NZXT Switch 810
Silverstone FT02
Corsair 800d
Silverstone TJ07

The TJ07 has some great potential to be modded. Personally I feel it's now a slightly outdated case, and it does need some modding to get it to be one of the best cases around, but if you're willing to do this it can be absolutely amazing.
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18046633 is a good example of what can be done. One of the first and greatest examples of what can be done with the TJ07 can be found here:

As said, it has great potential, but probably needs a couple of tweaks to maximise this potential.

And the looks of one :p

Agreed, the current press shots don't really do it any favours. Hopefully with some better pictures it might leave a better impression.

Still, it does offer un-rivaled WC cooling options for that price point, a 480 and 360 with no modding for £200 shouldn't be shunned IMO. I'm sure if someone was to get creative with it, it might even look, well, less obscene :p

Imo, at your budget I'd look at:

corsair - 800d/700d/650d/600t
silverstone - rv02/ft02 (I personally hate the rv03, even though the rv01 is my favourite case ever and the rv02 is one of my favs, imo the rv03 was a disappointment, but that's just my opinion)
coolermaster - storm trooper
NZXT - phantom/switch 810

I think that's about it :p

Thanks for you all taking the time to reply:)

Just the moment, that nzxt 810 looks very appealing. I've been watching the over clock 3d review. But despite some issues it does appear to be the best one. That white version reminds me of the 1980's.

That cooler master cosmo looks very nice. But are there any reviews on air cooling? As water cooling is something i plan on doing but not yet.

Its funny i have seriously been thinking of getting the nzxt 810 case. But don't like style or the plastic despite the excellent air flow from all the fans.

With the corsair 800 i have been watching the final video from over clock 3d. But he highly recommends replacing the fans! Anyone know what's the best case fans to buy. As i own two Gental typhoon.

Hi I am close to making a decision and I am planning on getting the cooler master cosmo 2. But, apart from the looks are there any reasons why I should buy this.

The Cosmos 2 is enormous but i'm not convinced it's a £300 case. That's higher than Mountain Mods territory, where you could get the Pinnacle 18 or Pinnacle 24 for less, which is literally designed to take as much WC as you can throw in a standard tower, and will kick ass at just air if that's what you want.

For £100 less, the FT02 is the air cooling champion, and will even take a 120.1 loop internally with no modification.

Nowt wrong with the Cosmos 2, the plasticy look isnt for me, but it is pretty expensive considering.
