My sister dropped Galaxy S 2 in bath !!!! (facepalm)

"My phone changed colour, changed IMEI, changed serial number and stopped working". Yeah I can see that fraudulent claim going well.

^ Guys, I didn't get your attack to be honest. Saying something like this is very insulting!!! Would I post here if she'd want to commit a fraud?

All I said that she bought new galaxy S2 *white* two days ago!

And faulty Galaxy S2 is boxed and ready to be repaired or insurance used (my mistake, she said that she had insurance since day one, didn't know that).

So why she going wait one month before claiming ??
^^ She already bought New Galaxy S2 in white LoL and bought insurance, so in one month going to claim.

Update: More than One week past, switched on GS2 and nothing happened.

As I have GS2 myself, I installed charged battery from my GS2, tried to switch on sister's GS2 it did not switch on, when I plug charger this sign appears:

Have you tried a different batter?

I have had that sign before and it was because the phone had overheated. If you boot the phone into recovery then restart from there it should bypass the check...

Thank you for all your advices.
+1 :p

Tried your advice and was able to get to recovery mode and restart device.
It booted normally to the main menu and after 30 secs. switched off and same sign appeared.

I'll try to do it again with second battery when it's charged, however if it was able to boot up I believe it's not dead?

There is only one possible thing you could be doing with a Flash enabled Android phone in the bath ..............

Just leaving a gap your mind to fill in the blanks.

hi angela

if its still under warrenty book it in with o2 to see one of their guru's
the repair *should* be free, as its under warrenty, but if you have a different battery to the one that got wet; place that in the phone, as the water indicator will be bright red and they will refuse a free repair.

they will have to send the phone off, and Tesco uses the o2 network so its not a problem.

the S2 has been known to have repeated over heat issues, so theyll take the phone assuming that is the problem (so long as you dont leave a bright red water indicator in there)

[removal of the water indicator voids warrenty, so make sure you just use a different battery]

warrenty wont cover it, only if the device goes wrong, not from dropping it in the bath

if the guru makes the assumption that the phone is overheating; and fills the repair form out as such, and the water indicator is removed, the repair can be processed.

o2 use a 3rd party repair company [anovo] who only do basic software checks and visual indicators. nothing else. so it isnt impossible to get by.

if you walk in and say "i dropped it in the bath, fix it for me please" then yes, it wont get done, but as with most things in life if you dont tell the truth, you dont like, but play the idiot, it will probably get done.

worst case scenario is they [anovo] decline repair and offer a quote to fix it, if you say no they just send it back to you.

insurance claim on different IMEI is fraud.

asking for a repair quote is not.

the quote is at the discression of the repair agent, no one else.

i know others do it, and that isnt a reason, but by the sounds of it she has somehow been misold products, one with insurance and one without, one with warrenty and one without.

like i said, the worst case scenario is they will offer a repair fee; and she can decide then whether or not it is worth it.
