Time to upgrade my Northwood P4

No good with cables, no good with cameras... good job I can program ;)

It looks better with the case closed :D

Heh, I still have a HX520 from 2006. :) I expect it'll outlast my current PC (though it's only got 2x 6pin PCI-E connectors since the 8pin standard didn't exist back then).

Warranty on my HX620 is up in a couple of months so I'll be replacing it.

PSU Has served me well with both Crossfire and SLI setups for almost 5 years. Lovely

Hah missed this ! Now where do I begin :D

Sod it... Just keep coding mate, as long as it works eh ? :)

I actually tried to be tidy. Note how there are no cables crossing the motherboard  and some even go behind as intended. That 'busy' looking cabling to the right which might, at first glance, seem untidy to the untutored eye is, in fact, a postmodern statement. Or something.

The white RAM looks nice. I even found some blue elastic bands to stabilise the cooler fans. I'm not a total caveman :p

Let's call it R&D. It's freelance so I'm waiting for the next budget year. Haven't done any since September :o I also have a company making cider so that keeps me busy October and November, then a bit in February and May.

In the meantime I get to enjoy my new toy, err, R&D platform ;)

This was a great thread. I've read it from start to finish.

I have a question for Tuppy_Glossop - do you miss making tea whilst waiting for your computer to boot? This was the first thing I noticed after moving from spinning magnets to persistent transistors to store windows on.

It was like my computer was demanding I be there as it instantly showed up the desktop, as if I had become the slave rather than the master. I miss my tea :-(.

I do miss that in the morning. In fact, I turned it on yesterday morning and was still a bit dopey and forgot to turn the screen on. I snapped out of it after ten seconds , screened on, and it was waiting for me to log in. It is not just quick to get to the login page but it's ready to use almost immediately after login, with network and everything.
