Hi all,

I have been recently been attempting to overclock my GX580 SLI setup. I am hitting a wall at about 910Mhz-920Mhz (irrespective of fan speed or voltage) I am positive the barrier is thermal since BF3 and Unigine function fine at 940Mhz as long as peak temps are in the mid 70's. As soon as temps rise to 80 plus on the top card I experience instability issues this usually takes 20 minutes.

I have thus far followed every avenue I can think of to bring temps down and I have been successful. The top card was at one stage hitting 100 now it only gets to around 83-84 peak load when surrounded by 4 additional fans and after having used a hole saw to cut two holes in my old Coolmaster Mystique.

I am hoping to avoid having at all costs purchasing a new case due to space restrictions and the fact I like my existing case a lot and migrating everything would be a real pain. If I did I presumably a 9 slot size would be needed due to my Asus pZ68 deluxe config (spacing is difficult due to the cards being triple slot).

My question is juding from the picture what could I do that would knock an extra 10 Degress off my temps on the top card?

Is there no way to hide those cables round the back, out the way? This should help with general airflow around the case too. Apart from that, have you looked at water cooling those cards too?

you need a new case m8,thats quite a old case now and with the 2 580's being newish than the case i bet there quite cosy in there.

personally speaking i would get a new case which can house those 2 monster cards with better cooling.

£80 would get you a better case and knock down those temps.

im not up with the new case's on the market but im quite sure stulid would recommend a good case for you with good air flow.

look at that case...... :D:D

all those cables will definitely screw up your airflow, i bet there's no fresh air from that intake fan at all, this is easily loosing you 10 degrees, maybe much more.

Another shout for a new case on this one.

At the very least sort that cabling out as that is destroying your airflow in from the front.

first thing to do is work out a budget.

picking a case for someone with cooling need's is easy, but picking a case for someone's taste can be a bit more tricky.

the case is a personal thing and as you said, that haf-x is fugly.yes it is but ive owned one and they are ver very good at cooling.

im going to spec you a case which does seem rather popular on here.

the corsair 650d.

have a look at it and look at some builds on here for some insight into what the case is capable of.
