Guys

My old man loves his cider and i want to get him some for his birthday however i don’t want to just get him what you buy from the local supermarket. Hoping that someone who loves cider can give me some insight into some good websites and perhaps suggest suggestions on some nice ciders to buy from them.

Thanks

Sam

Are you looking for apple cider? or other flavours, i always love toffee apple brothers, sweet tooth perhaps, but nice.

OP asked for cider not alcopops. :p

These are two of my local ones, though I doubt you can get them anywhere past 10 miles of where they are produced -

Tutts Clump is but 2 miles away.

Anyway, I have used http://www.ciderstore.com/shop/ for a mixed box which was very good and would recommend them. They have a really good selection from a lot of smaller growers.

*edit*

Hmmm, their selection is not what it once was.

I really like the stuff Aspall's make.

Justin has been on a bit of a cider binge in the last couple of months, review his posts in the Now Drinking thread or hope that he pops in.

:o actually enjoying an Old Rosy right now!

Not sure if you have a Waitrose near you, but my local has a massive section of premium ciders and scrumpy, I always have a different one each week.

My favourite at the moment are Orchard Pig medium cider, Dunkertons Black Fox, El Gaitero Spanish cider and Weston's Extra Strong Scrumpy (the big 2l glass bottles of it)

Waitrose had a good deal on boxes of Weston's last year - from what I remember anyway :D

Went to the Healey's cider farm in Cornwall last month. Its very impressive that all the cider they make goes through that tiny little farm. They have a 1 bottle at a time bottling and label machine!

Their Rattler is a great cider. Used to be limited to places in Cornwall and Devon, but now a lot of Tesco's stores sell it, and Wetherspoons has started stocking it too.

Not a fan of any flavoured cider really, but the good old apple Rattler is a firm favorite of mine.

Edit: Lol, just seen rotters comment :). They do tell you stories on the tour of how rats used to end up in the mix, but they assured us that no longer happens ;).

Just had a pint of cheddar valley, tasted like squash but it's seriously strong, feel a lot wobbly after 4, tasted very mild but with a kick in the nuts after a few.

One of my local pubs sells this. I went there for dinner with my missus a while back and was only on my second pint when she started looking at me in an odd way. She knows when I am getting drunk. I had a third and felt really tipsy. That stuff is lethal. :D
