Yes I shall dismiss any mpg figures from any other cars I drive, afterall you don't buy 300+ BHP cars with fuel consumption in mind. :D

My mate just come back who owns a TT RS, he said this:-

40mpg would be pushing it.
Juts done a lakes trip, all be it at 90mph and got 32mpg for the trip

My ave is 23mpg
But I am using more boost so more fuel.
People can do 36mpg on the motorway off boost


Hope that helps regarding the TT-RS debate. ;)
 
I'm amazed you can achieve 40mpg in a car like this, very impressive.

I like the front, like the side, but the back is not to my liking. However having seen a Porsche cayman S (close enough to an R ;)) they do look good in the flesh.
 
I ran against a 997 C2S when I had my GT3 and there was little in it, the GT3 being a smidge quicker but nothing more. The C2S was driven by the previous owner of your CSL too and we were both on it up to lots of leptons. I also ran against a 997 GT3 at FT2007 and beat it, little in it really and I launched better. He was catching me ever so slightly at the end of 3/4 mile but over 150mph nowt in it. Most GT3's will be close to 400bhp if mapped effectively but a 'good' 997 C2S will be there or there abouts.

You can't

Well you can, but only if you reset the trip computer when you're already on the mootorway and then take a note of the reading before you get off it. :p
 
And for reference I achieved close to 32. something on a 2800 mile trip to Monaco and back in my GT3, I'd not be surprised if a Cayman R could see 36-38 on a such a run with more modern engine management etc.

Yeah my mate who has the GT3 has driven my C2S a few times and himself says it's the quickest C2S he has driven, he reckons it quicker then the Gen2 Carrera. But I did buy on spec and the ceramics and aerokit all help reduce weight, then factor in my little tweakings and it goes well. :D
Last dyno was 378BHP for mine. :)

He is now contemplating more modifications for his so he can keep up. :D

I'd like to have a little shoot out with one of these. I've come across Cayman S's before and even older CS2's and put the Cayman's away, the CS2's I've been hanging onto the back off.

But given this write up, a Cayman R would/should put the Z4M to bed...but I'm not sure it would be that comprehensive.

Interesting you posted the in-gear times. It's becoming more and more apparent that the traditional 0-60 is just not a valid measurement of true performance isn't it?

A work colleague has a Cayman S I think - I've experienced the sprint up the A329 in his and in my M3, and it's interesting that from his I feel the M3 is just fleeing away from me at a rate of knots, and yet from the M3 you feel like the Cayman is right on your ass. That's perception for you.

Big, big fan of porsche units - if I didn't do so many miles I'd be in a 911 or a Cayman.

to be fair i think its all our dreams

To build a business up from scratch, put your whole life's work into it. Then when you reach a certain age, sell the business, become a millionaire and live the high life in a tax exile somewhere enjoying the fruits of your labour.

Certainly, many of the british millionaires in Monaco went there to escape the tax they would incur if they lived in the UK and sold their business.
