I have these things in my tank, they arrived with some moss balls I ordered from Malaysia. They don't seem to be causing any problems but they aren't the prettiest thing to look at.. they crawl about like a grub would and they can dart around in the water. Anyone know what they are?

Picture is a bit iffy but they're probably either freshwater limpets or ostracods (seed shrimp). Both harmless, will probably just be supplemental fish food. If you get a huge explosion of them it'll be because you're feeding too much.

Wouldn't worry about them.

Although, having read your description of behaviour it doesn't really match. Better piccy possible?

Quite a terrifying thing under a microscope

Could be these but I really don't know

Unfortunately that was about the best pic I could get with my camera :(

Out of focus ;)

Yeah, I'm well aware of how bad the photo is. It's not going to win any prizes but its enough to show a little white grub like thing that likes living in moss and scavenging at the bottom of my fish tank. So far I have concluded that it's not alien, a tounge eating beetle or a queen wasp

have you any fish that will devour them? im still plagued by snails in my tank after i bought some live plants mail order last august i foolishly didn't wash em before putting them in :o
