Ford Fiesta ST unveiled

I think it looks awesome.

Needed more power from the word go though. Renault Sports next model will be 220 at least I'm betting.

Hell this will be slower than the current Clio.

In the real world the Fiesta is going to be much more drivable and probably 'feel' faster thanks to its turbocharged engine, given that like most high revving naturally aspirated cars, the Clio needs you to absolutely rev the knackers off it to get a move on, this will have much more torque low down.

Flat out around the track, where you're keeping the car in the upper limits of the rev band, the Clio should have it. On the road though, when you're not at high revs constantly, the bags of torque from low down typical of a Turbocharged car is going to be something of an equaliser!

Don't these fiestas weigh less than a ton? So a good 200+kg lighter than a Clio 200?

wont be less than a ton for sure... mine is 1050kg roughly once i remove the seats etc. the Entry model Fiesta Mk7's are over a ton so i doubt the ST version will be lighter.

The Mk7 Fiesta is lighter than the Mk6, this shouldnt weigh *loads* more than the Zetec S as the Ecoboost is a lightish engine albeit with extra ancillaries. Not as much of a lump as a 2.0 Duratec regardless!

178bhp and weighing around a ton sounds nice to me, better power to weight than a mk1 focus rs.

I much prefer the looks of the MK7 Fiesta Zetec S.
The front looks like a fish and I don't like the lip under the exhaust.

Those seats look amazing though.

The 178hp doesn't sound much but I agree with the turbo comments on the usable power being more important than peak power. I would imagine most owners will remap anyway.

It offends be that a hot hatch is being marketed as an "ecoboost" rather than "TURBO".

Turbo will turn hippies away, Ecoboost will make them buy it. Cough.:p

Im sure thats what the 1.2 weighs, and surely the 1.6 would weigh more. Oh well i stand corrected Sorry :).

I do love all the warm hatch comments...... like hah.

The front looks like a little bit of a facelift, grill more in line with the new focus and the lights changed just a bit (and do i spy LEDs along the edge?)

It's not exactly unpleasant but it's not setting me on fire. Who are these cars aimed at? Is there a market for that kind of warm hatch middle ground between shopping cart and 'proper' hot hatch? I'm not stirring, I don't get it.
