I see you can download this for free along with Resident Evil 3 on PS+ somebody must have it if so could they confirm whether or not this is the dualshock version please?

Thanks

Joe

Was going to get Plus for 3 months as it is only £4 more than RE2. Then I noticed you loose the game once your sub ends. Having never looked at Plus before I never realised this was the case!

So I'll just wait it out as a mere normal PSN user until I have time to play it!

Dualshock is correct, apparently as it is the US version.

I played through them again recently and I still loved every minute. Rose tinted glasses still intact.

Fans of the series will always love them no matter what. I'm happy to be corrected but Nitefly didn't play these when they were first released and he's just going through them now. The same with Metal Gear Solid, you can't fully appreciate these titles and how groundbreaking they were for their genres unless you played them at the time. It's simply not the same playing them today if you missed it the first time around.

I agree, all us folks who played it before will always had a special bond with it :p but most people go on about the graphics but they really don't bother me one bit. I went back to mgs and still loved it as much as the first time round. It's the story that amazes me, the graphics don't bothe me at all.

I still have my PS1 versions of all the Resident evil games in a box somewhere, I should get them back out sometime because they play great on the PS3

I played the RE games when they first came out (at least within that generation) and enjoyed them. Some of they are still good, but generally they do feel very dated now.

I'm playing mgs for the first time at the moment. I appreciate the story aspect of it, it is very impressive for a game, but I'm not yet convinced by the gameplay.

Totally agree with your point though, which I think has a lot to do with games getting better all the time and people taking this for granted.

Oh! Then I stand corrected. :p

I just think it's hard for somebody from the Xbox 360 generation to become immersed in an original Playstation game no matter how good. I'll always have a soft spot for MGS, but if I asked my sister or any of her friends to play it they'd probably turn it off within the first few minutes. I realise graphics aren't everything, and they probably do too, but it's much easier to lose yourself and become immersed in the story and the game world if everything looks great. Of course there are exceptions, and people will say that gameplay > graphics which I also believe in, however I think there is a standard which graphics have to reach to make the game enjoyable and PS1 games simply look like absolute ass these days.

That doesn't spoil my enjoyment of them, but I can see how newcomers would be put off.

It's partially the graphics, but it's predominantly the gameplay. The old RE games and mgs1 both control terribly which is confounded further by a rubbish camera. No matter how important other aspects are, such as plot etc, you play a game. There is very little satisfying about controlling a tank (when it's not supposed to be one).

Backtracking is the most offensive thing to me along with other padding such as fetch quests. Code Veronica and wind waker are extremely offensive in these regards respectively to the point it almost spoils the entire game.

There is a weird amount of love for first games in a series. I recently played through all tr god of war games and 3 is easily the best in terms of gameplay. Everything is better, yet it's the first that gets the most praise...! The mind boggles. Granted, 1 did have the best plot but the fighting was the tightest in 3.
