I love love love the new fiesta...! Zetec S looks fab, even my mothers still looks good for a wee 5 door Zetec!

That being said, that ST is hideous :/ Like the back and sides... that front is god awful!! :(

That's the current model. The original was a hatchback. Anywho that space marine thing is crazy Haha.

No it wasn't, even the fastback had a boot and not a liftback. The only hatchback Mustangs were in the second and third generation and they looked like crap versions of European hatchbacks. If you're going to try to blow my mind you'll have to try a lot harder than that.

hence why i use the term "proper" :P
Fair point i know what you mean, but in my eyes (and i think quite a few people) a "proper hot hatch" is something a kin to a old mk 2 golf gti or 205 gti. they should be light

So if in your eyes a proper hot hatch is a light 80s-90s pocket rocket, then we'll never see another hot hatch again. The definition of a hot hatch is constantly changing with technology and regulation like anything else in the car industry, yet you want to persist with a definition that applied 20 years ago.

Im not arguing with you. Just expressing my opinion. is that hard to understand?

This type of comment happens so often in a discussion. Everyone understands that it's your opinion, there's no need to clarify that.

1.None of you can read.
I have excepted that a hatchback that is fast is a hot hatch.
2.I am merely saying a prefer the small kind. (this is what i mean by 80's-90's esque.) Cars which i mean as an example which are modern are the current clio rs. Clearly the above exists as its on the market.

I dont really see where this discussion needs to go from this point. The Focus RS is a hot hatch. But not my favourite kind. Personally.

If i was considering a Focus RS i would give up and stump up the cash for a 4x4 jap coupe. If I was considering a Clio RS then I would by one.

On reflection I can kinda see his point. Hot hatches are getting hotter whilst the warm hatches are becoming hot hatches themselves. So are the hot hatches still hot?

Now they are approaching the kind of performance you get from a base spec Porsche, shouldn't they be called something like a boiling hatch or red hot hatch? :p

I would have hoped they had tuned the engine a bit.
I am not complaining about 178hp with a decent torque curve, what I am complaining about is taking the 1.6 ecoboost (what a crap name for a hot hatch) engine and sticking it in a Fiesta is hardly inventive. Someone could probably do that on their own driveway at home!

Saying it's not a proper hot hatch and that it's not your favourite hot hatch are two different things. The Focus RS must be about as proper as a hot hatch can get.

Good point in that case:

A Focus RS is a proper hot hatch.
But not my favourite kind as personally if i had the money for one i'd much rather get a slightly older evo

What would you want them to do?

It's all about emissions these days. The next model will probably have a 1.4 turbo.

Even a small ecu map change would make it appear more 'sporty' than a standard 1.6 turbo Focus. Considering they want 17.5 grand for it I would want a bit more than an engine that has been taken from a regular Focus and stuck in a Fiesta.

I do agree with you about the emissions, but this is not a 1.25 Fiesta that will sell by the shipload, this is supposed to be a hot hatch that will appeal to people who want power and handling.
