KONY 2012 - Campaign to arrest Joseph Kony

Indeed,

The same type of people as those who harp on tax dodgers & then go shopping at Top Shop (because they like the clothing) - complain about politics but don't vote because they went clubbing the night before.

Armchair politics, with no real effort/time invested in investigating the issues - they want the badge of being an activist without doing any of the legwork required to even understand the subject at hand.

The same kind of idiot who buys fair-trade thinking they are helping the third world but supports capitalism - thinking they can "purchase a conscience" with a cup of coffee.

The whole point of this is awareness. People who become aware may write to the powers that be in order to prevent the American advisors pulling out. Those who do not write may make others aware.

If this video didn't exist, and no one talked about it, the chances of success greatly reduce.

I lol'd hard...

Love all the responses about "slacktivism", jumping on the bandwagon and making themselves feel better when everyone is the same.

You might like to think that its only idiots that buy into this and that your special brand of humor makes you look like you understand the situation but all it does is make you look like an arrogant ****.

Literally everything you do is a selfish act in one way or another and from reading this forum for years I am fairly sure that a lot of you certainly don't make a living from your brains so give it a rest.

I'm sure that its a bad thing that they are trying to raise awareness about this issue and get a new generation into activism. Because we haven't mobilised against every african tyrant over the last 50 years we shouldn't bother because then we might be accused of bias. Its just a bit sad that so many people on here are so self involved that they can't see the good that can come out of a campaign like this.

People don't just pick a cause and say "**** the rest of the world, this is the single thing I care about". It can bring a change of attitude which is clearly what some of the people here need. We all have so much that we haven't earned in the slightest simply for the luck of being born in this country so I don't think it would be beyond the realms of decency to at least try to see this as a positive rather than trying to pick holes in their idea.

OMG, look at me guys I'm making a difference. Let's all pretend we are important! Nobody cares, nothing will change. Even if he does get brought down another one will take his place. The people who could make a change clearly aren't actually interested.

The problem is the people who are clicking "like" is about as far as they get.

It's stupid people thinking they have solved a global issue by posting stupid stuff on a social media website.

These same morons then support the ideology that caused the very problems they claim to dislike.

This kind of armchair philanthropy isn't helpful, as it distracts attention from real activism as people think they have "done there bit", when in reality they have done sweet **** *** & should accept that.

I think I prefer the people who say "I don't care" - at least they are honest.

Not caring about humanity.

This is what our society has come to?

I hope everyone that "does not care" appreciates what they have in life.

It's not that I don't care, it's that I know to make any significant difference would require a lot more sacrifice than liking a Facebook page, and I'm able to admit that I'm not prepared to make that sacrifice.

What do you do to help?

Who said we don't care?, we are just pointing out that "liking" a face-book status does not qualify as being a human rights activist.

I'm politically active, I promoted fair pay schemes in my workplace to equal out pay to those on less than me, I regularly donate, I'm willing to put the legwork into understanding global issues/sociology/psychology, I've created numerous e-petitions, written to my MP's countless times regarding various issues involving human suffering.

What I don't do is "like" a face-book campaign & think "YEY! I'M A HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST, LOOK AT ME EVERYBODY - LOOK AT HOW MUCH I CARE - LOOK AT ME PUBLICLY DISPLAY MY ALTURISM, I HOPE GIRLS WILL LIKE ME FOR CARING LOLOL"

I think you will find, those that actually do care & those that don't - on this are in agreement.

Also, I love these meme's damn funny & true so many of them.

It's going to take more than a fb campaign to change anything, what have you done to help? And did you know or care about this before?
