Street Fighter V.S. Tekken

Not that I am any good at it yet, but you guys should explore charge cancelling to create/extend combos you wouldnt normally be able to do. I think charge and switch cancelling will be key to create the most damaging combos and mixups.

Was that for me art?

No, it was for Ravl. I'll burn him with my words later instead.

Yea, Desk recently released a video showing the use of charge cancelling.
As for switch cancelling, I read something a while ago saying that unblockables are actually really difficult to do and that theres something in place to makeit not as easy to do as it might initially seem.
Sorry for the vagueness, but I can't find the post :(

Managed to do all of Ryus trials now except the last one, finding that a bit tricky atm. I wasn't the biggest fan of link combos in SF4 (mainly because I was so poor at them) but these sorts of combos where you just hammer the buttons in order with no timing whatsoever, don't seem to involve any skill?

I haven't done any combos with Ryu yet except the ones in the trial, not sure how much damage they do. I need to find a second character though.

Distorted you are right, I was trying to remember everything from the tutorial and bring it into the game, which is way too much too soon. I can already tell this games gonna take me ages to get half decent at but everyone on my friends list has moved over to SFxT now so I doubt I'll be short of opponents.

Are you around over the weekend? We can pop into training mode together and I can show you some stuff.

Special charge dash cancelling (SCDC?) off of anti air normals will be pretty cool if you do it at the right height, you could cross under people for it.

A lot of this game is going to be two characters dancing around each other trying to get their limb to connect so they can OS special cancel it. You could say that's a lot of what SF4 was but I think it's going to be waaaay more prevalent now since the payoff can be huge with no risk.

Also, Hyv, the way you worded your post makes it sound like you are saying ChrisG is playing the game wrong, that amused me.

standing jab pressure in this game is stupid. most character's stand jab cant be crouch under, and it gives them million frame advantage.

i have been in the online lab with ravl this morning, practising some combos and working out how to use the normal moves of our characters. also tried the pair mode and scramble mode. scramble mode is really crazy, but it can get laggy because there is too much on screen. pair mode isnt any laggyer than single player so its great. i managed to leech off some win with ravl. we only lost once to a ryu and ken team (yes these people are boring and stupid) with him playing lili and i play steve.

i didnt say anything about chris g playing it, i am just saying i am playing it wrong because i didnt abuse the stand jab and didnt know xiaoyu launcher move in her stance is safe.

honda was crap compare to ryu, sagat, akuma, balrog and rufus in sf4! they do as much damage as honda and have more options.

cant believe chris g won big two with xiaoyu, might have to revalue-rate my play a bit, all he does is stand jab into the basic combo and it works.

Edit: off topic

Just dropping in to say I love this game, Kazuya is everything I hoped he would be. Have a local tourney now soon so I'm off to that, I'll have to get some games with all of you soon.

Why can't I do EWGF motions on this game it's really annoying me. I might just give up on Kazuya just because of this stupid motion.
Anyway my very early team is most likely going to be Kazuya/Ogre, they're both quite fun but I'm going to need a lot of time in training before I'm comfortable with either of them.

i am liking law and steve at the moment. trying to figure out some better combos for law, i cant much more than 350 meterless:(, but with steve, i can easily reach almost 500 with one bar.

the only problem with steve is, he has poor mix-ups and jumpins. i dont know how to land a clean hit with this guy.

me and arth got beat by a scrub mashing on sweep with ryu and guile the whole game:(, he beat us with one button:(.

hyv, the point of high damage characters like Steve and balrog is they have limited mix ups. The game would be broken if a character had all the tools.

Just signed on now and had 1 game with Not A Zergling aka Margaret for those who played him in SF4, he sent me an invite and even though I wanted to practice I thought why not and jumped in the lobby.

I am absolutely awful at this game atm but I think he's been practising all day, he had some good long combos. Anyway I beat him with Ryu and Akuma and just played as though I was playing SF4, he rage quit and left and sent me a long msg about how this isn't SF4 and I only won because I abused throw and how it was the laggiest match he has ever played. Lol he hasn't changed one bit but I felt really bad I think he's been practising all day and this was my first game today. :p

Guys, if anyone is gonna invite me, I have hardly played this game and still think I am playing SF4 minus the focus attack cancels etc and I have no combos yet, so feel free to use me as a punching bag but don't go into a fit if I beat you with just hadoukens and throw lol. :p

Lol, I played him earlier and he absolutely thrashed me. I only won once. Man do I suck at this game.

However, I am quite enjoying at the moment despite the sound issue being annoying.

Thanks for the invites elrasho but I couldn't join your lobby for some reason.
