Just got my new sandybridge system but had real problems with the SATA config. Since I swapped intel for AMD i did a full windows reinstall. However I couldnt install on the intel AHCI drivers, no matter what windows refused to install.

Strangely the marvell controller works fine but gives me slow speeds on my SSD around 250mb/s write and 350 mb/s read. Anyone else had thing problem, ive also tryed installing on the marvell than swapping to the intel that doesnt work either

Windows should install the drivers automatically, I only installed the Intel Rapid storage Technology drivers - or is this the drivers your trying to install.

Edit: Daft question, was ACHI enabled on the BIOS.

Keep in mind that usually the marvell controller quickly saturates your SSD's speed. Its like connecting one pci-e x 1 controller, limited at ~500mb/s.Always use the native sata3 ports no matter what.;)

a few different ones, one time i could install but it would freeze at expanding files and then other times it wouldnt allow me to install on my SSD its just strange i tried full formats nothing worked tonnes of drivers but for some reason the marvell work fine its just slow

What firmware are you running? Have you tried IDE mode and enabling AHCI in the registry/BIOS after? I'd personally secure wipe the SSD, disconnect it from the board, clear the BIOS, reconnect and try again.

Ive tried IDE that lets an install but freezes at expanding files and im on the latest firmware, ive tried cleaning the ssd with diskpart or something ive also tried endless formats with CMD nothing

Ok, when you install via the Marvell controller and move it to the intel ports, what error occurs? BSOD code etc? Sounds like either your SSD or possibly the chipset on your board is faulty, try to boot with no optical, just the SSD.

Just a stab in the dark here but have you got hot swapping enabled for your SATA ports in
the BIOS this might cause an issue if not.

Funny, i've always disabled Hotswapping for Agility 3 drives :) Not so much with present firmware, but disabled it definetly solved a few dropout issues.

Touch wood I have never had a problem with my drive and hot swapping has
been enabled from day 1 for me.

nope hot swag disabled and when i switch from marvell to intel I cant boot windows sometimes and other times when Im in windows it just freezes all the time and BSODs

pretty sure its my SSD problem I had to mess around with it all the time in my AMD system it would never boot correctly it had a mind of its own think its worth returning? my storage drive is using the intel controllers and that works fine and can boot windows

I would try enabling it then and see if it makes any difference. worth a try even if it don't
work you aint lost anything.

Wonderful advice.

The problem is the OP can't get Windows to install using a native SATA 3 port.

So if you could just sort that out for him I'm sure he'd be most appreciative.

The OP mentioned slow sequentials speeds on the marvel controller so i informed him about the controller's limitation, just in case, to sort that out anyway.
