I believe that price fixing is taking place.

Please could you help and post the Price of diesel at your tesco in your area thanks

I think it is safe to say that prices are fixed at a local level between local supermarkets.

My local Tesco and Morrisons are both 143.9p.

Setting a price at whatever local competition is charging is not price fixing.

Tesco fuel prices very depending on competitive activity in the local area. It is only price fixing if there is collusion which getting everyone to post local prices cannot possibly prove.

All you will demonstrate is that tesco pricing differs from area to area which:

A) we already know
B) is not price fixing.

I wrote to the store manager asking why my local Tesco was 3p more a litre on diesel than the tesco store 10 miles away

Define Local?

How can the two tesco's be so different in price and yet be so close?

Because they have different customers. How much would driving 10 miles out to save 3p really save you?

within 1-2 miles of one Tesco's might be relatively little competition or maybe a prime location, near a turnoff on a motorway or something so people fill up just before getting on or whatever. THe other might have a bunch of other petrol stations close all on the same road so people aren't picky about going to the next station if its cheaper.

Prices differ, get over it, it has nothing to do with price fixing, its a sellers market, they charge what people are willing to pay, less choice, better location = pay more, more competition or on a road with multiple petrol stations where everyone is going the same way = cheaper prices.

10 miles is close?

I've seen differing fuel prices for Tesco pumps just 3 miles apart.

Say Tesco Store A has a customer base of say, 1000 customers per week as they're out in the sticks, and Tesco Store B is in a busy town centre and has 10,000 customers per week.

Tesco A must still make enough to pay for petrol station staff wages, the overheads of actually running the place and maintenance etc. Tesco B has a lot more customers, so can afford to make less profit per transaction than Tesco A and still come out at a profit.

Their beans are the same price regardless...

I'll jut go to morrisons in My dinner hour instead...But its a shame as the local tesco just opened is on my doorstep.

Its a brand new Tesco just opened. When the plans were put forward and a petrol station was announced people got excited. Fact is Tesco here is no cheaper than a Total Garage up the road.

Supermarket pricing? My arse!
