Wargame: European Escalation - Cold War RTS

If anyone wants to practice some MP without the fear of stupid tank/heli rush tactics or artillery spam I'll be on tonight from 1930. (IGN: Volcane)

Been looking at this game but still don't know if it is for me...

I like strategy games, but I suck at them. I am afraid that this might be too strategic/difficult for me to get into because of how much I suck, and due to a lack of single player skirmish for me to practice on? :(

there is a single player skirmish. Just not a multiplayer skirmish yet (devs said it is coming soon)

Like you say there is a MP skirmish you got to Singleplayer and it is at the top above the campaigns has been there for a few days. It says "Skirmish" "Play against the AI". Like you say the MP one is being worked on and should be coming ... soon!

As to it being difficult I don't think it is you just ensure you have anti-infantry, anti-vehicle and anti-air together keep a good amount of recon to scout ahead and go from there. I think you have to unlearn some normal RTS practices that's all. You just don't get a bunch of unit and charge. You hold ground, scout, try and flank etc. Keep slow and steady and you will always do ok.

Looks quite interesting, how does it play?
Think like CnC and Supcom I can deal with, anything with more micro management tends to just annoy me lol

At just over a tenner might get a few mates onto it too :)

For £10 it was rude not to :p

From just playing the 1st intro mission for 20-30mins I think it's fantastic, graphics are fast and fluid with lot's of detail. I will endeavor to put some time into today and learn the basics then hopefully join up for some MP shenanigans with you all !!

found a small video which in 5mins explains the game in great detail, helpful for noobs like me :)

Well thanks for the info guys, if I could I would get it, but damn 'PC spherical object' doesn't accept halifax cards!

It has less micro management than other RTS games imo. However, although you make less decisions there is an onus to make sure they are the correct ones and if they are not they tend to bite you in the ass more :D

I really like it so far, just finished the third mission which took me a few hours (I didn't rush) and it felt like a proper large scale battle.

Even though squads are quite small and the pace steady, the way battles unfold make the scale feel large. Minimal micromanagement required really, which is nice.

What a quality war game !! managed to get a few good hours in and replay the first mission without losing any vehicles. Really impressed with how easy the game is to play, there's obviously a ton of depth in there but for players like myself who want to take their time it's really forgiving.

Going to have a read through the manual, learn how to make a 'deck' for both factions and unlock some new shiny vehicles to help with the war effort.

Best new game I have played in years !!!

Agreed.

I'm only up to mission 6, the first of the Soviet campaign, and I'm already 11 hours up!

Really enjoying the array of units, the pace and scale of the SP campaign.

Purchased this yesterday via the offer in the daily deals gaming thread, downloading now , curse my slow connection haha !!

Looking forward to trying it out .

Seriously a game that forces you to take your time, no doubt about that!

Took me 4 attempts to finish the first mission, so took it more slowly in the second and cleared that. Feels SO good to win in this. Then the map opened up a bit and revealed the sectors for mission 3. I crapped a brick.
