Does the War Room ever get explained and how multiplayer links to it? I'm wondering when I should start playing mp.

Someone from Bioware put this on the forums,

Hi everyone,

I've seen some posts where there is a bit of confusion about the ability to get the best endings by only playing single-player, because if you don't play multiplayer (or the iOS game, Infiltrator) your Galactic Readiness stays at 50%.

You do NOT have to play multiplayer to get the best single-player endings.

Here's a bit of clarification:

Your ending(s) are determined by your "Effective Military Strength" (let's call it EMS for now) bar. Focus on that bar - that is your indicator of how well you will do in the end-game.

You can maximize your EMS just by collecting War Assets in the single-player game. There is a certain threshhold of these you would need to exceed (I can't get too specific) but I can tell you there are MORE than the required amount that can be gathered in the single-player campaign.

"Galactic Readiness" is a modifier you can improve by playing multiplayer. That is to say, if you play a lot of multiplayer, you will need less War Assets from single-player to fill up your EMS bar (ie it will balance out the requirements to account for you playing in both modes). Single-player game play does not impact that bar.

EMS = success. EMS can be maximized via collecting war assets alone, even if your Galactic Readiness is 50%.

UPDATE: changing post title, "perfect" ending may create confusion. This post indicates how military strength, war assets and galactic readiness affect the endings.

The War Room basically has the War Assets thing, in which you can see the Galactic readiness and what not.

Will do. Also a word of advice it's best to not run off on your own as you can easily get your ass spanked even on easy!

This is more of a mass effect in general question. But does anyone else get confused by the amount of different armours, weapons and upgrades to each available?

I'm just playing mass effect 1 now, and I forgot how annoying it was to filter through them all and find the best, I end up just making most of them into omni-gels.

Any rule of thumb I should be observing? Keeping in mind this is Mass effect 1 I'm talking about, Havent played 2 or 3 yet. Making my way through all 3 :D

Ah, Good :D

I'll tell you what I have just noticed. Master Spectre gear is available to buy and I've only just started. This is a new Xbox, My old save isnt on it. I guess it's linked into my achievements rather than my saved data? As it is the same account I used on my old console.

Oh dear the disc swapping is a pain on this one....

After a few of the priority missions it seems to only need Disc 2 until the final missions.

Sadly i have to call BS on that Bioware dev, my EMS bar was filled to the brim for the ending and not only did i get one of the Shepard dies ones, there was one peice of dialogue where the blue/red options were greyed out even with max rep. Also didn't get the achievement for delivering most of the galaxy at war assets to the final battle so either the bar is bogus on how full it can actually be or you need to do the multiplayer.

Same, just completed it now and didn't get it either. I got the Paragon/Renegade options within conversations though.

I can see why people are annoyed about the endings now.

If you got the paragon/renegade options in the last talk with
the illusive man
what was your EMS at?
