I'm a photographer and I want to get a 50" TV for showing images to clients.

It must have:

* great static picture quality with good contrast ratios (so plasma)
* The highest native res possible
* Look good

It does not need to have:

* Good sound - audio goes through a proper amp and speakers
* A stand (it will probably be wall mounted)
* Fancy image motion processing as it will be displaying optimised static images

Obviously I want all this for £5.60, but a realistic budget is up to about £750, but I would like to come in at under £650 if possible.

Any suggestions - thanks !

aren't they so cheap now...... even the 60'' is cheap in Currys.

can you remember when a 50'' plasma cost 3 000 quid

a 50'' HD screen is cheaper than a GTX 580, there's something not right here, that graphics card should be only 200 quid in comparison !

you can get a 50'' HD for 450 quid, now that's very good, even CRT were far more expensive than this.... why so cheap?...... easy to make, FOR GAMING plasma are still better than LED

My first Plasma (Hitachi) cost £3,300 and was 42", my second (Pioneer) was £2,600 and was 43" and my latest (Samsung) is 50" and cost £800 ....thats over the past 10 years or so.

I've not seen it anywhere near £400.

I was offered one in currys.... last years end of stock, i said no because i've got to save for the graphics card first, whichever silly one i get !!!!!!!

even the 60'' LED Sharp was under a thousand quid...... BUT TAKE CARE, because plasmas are the best for gaming, LED still sufferes from motion blur !

the bloke in the shop said only go for an LG or a Panny, the rest are ok, but not as good

yes it's amazing isn't it, the best time to buy is at Xmas or Jan. i saw loads of plasmas at 55 to 60 '' under a thousand quid

it's only the top range 3D that are expensive, but i dont need 3D, because it's only a passing fad that's all.

Even the Panasonic ST30, nearly as good 2D as the G30 is 500ish for a 42"!!

Awesome prices.

yes, the 42'' is a similar price maybe because it's a much more popular size, plus on HD, it's a better image.

mind you, i fancy a 60'' for when DOOM 4 comes out !

1080p is just about right for over 50'', but to be honest, it could do with a higher resolution..... i've just seen a 60'' LG plasma online for 820 quid, but i think this might be too large for 1080p, but it makes you think !
