It's not the HU internal amp interfering with the JBL amp is it?
Have you got a setting in the HU to disable the internal amp?

If he's using a pre-out, which i'd expect, you bypass the amp anyways.

Shouldnt make a difference, the majority of car audio equiptment is happy to run reverse phase. Some subs produce better sound with it switched and a lot of head units have the ability to change it aswell

It's the amp. My JBL GTO did the same back in the day sadly

Its a brand new sub and amp, so must have been DOA if this is the case.

Plus when using RCA - 3.5mm jack and playing from his phone he said it the problem was gone!

Cant see if you've looked or not but there isnt a setting in your HU to turn to sub on/off that you've forgot about. Its one of those things that we all forget about

It cannot be the amp as my old amp did exactly the same (different brand too)
