**NVIDIA PRICE DROP - GTX 580@£299, GTX570@£239.99 & GTX560Ti(448)@£199!!**

I wonder when kepler releases the 580 will drop to around £200 like the 480 did when the 580 came out...

I'm waiting for about £200. Just checked back and got my 5870 for £167 Xmas eve 2010 from OCUK. That was just before they were doing the 480's refurbs for about £160! Those were great deals. From a 5870 nothing less than a 580 is a worthwhile upgrade imo, and at 300smackers it's still a bad upgrade.

Nice to see the 580 at the £300 mark, will compete much better against the 7900 series.

*Grabs popcorn and awaits price wars*

Ooo I didn't see any for £299.

That's where they need to be now. That will make the 7950's price a little awkward.

Looks like Easy may be able to retire that banana soon.

Unfortunately the 580 price even at this point isn't tempting me away from my 480. For the cost, I could easily pick up a waterblock, which would solve my noise issues. I'll wait until Kepler and a good boost in performance :)

Kind of presuming 480~660....

I agree completely. If it was the 3gb 580 for £300 it would be a bit tougher, but spec wise the 580 doesn't really have much a heavily overclocked 480 doesn't.

From a 480 no but if you have a 460 or older and are in the market for a new GPU its a steal.

Even for me on a 570 I dont think £300 for a 580 would be a good buy.

Hi there. Is that just speculation and a guess, or are you certain?

Reason I ask is because I can well believe it.

So at $499 realistically we could be looking at £399 over here which would nicely undercut the 7970 by a smidgen.

i think thats wishful thinking

in my pessimistic ways, im thinking it will be launch day £599 and then settle down to £499 and the reason i think that is that i think it will beat the 7970 so it will be priced higher - but i really hope im wrong :p

English is not his 1st language bud.

I asked nicely, and wasn't trying to be nasty. I simply just didn't get what was meant the first time.

£599? I don't think so.

£450? yeah I can see that, but I'm still going £400.

They do need to be careful as they are late. When you are late (as they found out with Fermi) you can literally tip people in the wrong direction into the arms of your competition. If they go too far with their pricing they will make AMD look like better value (as they did with Fermi) and that can backfire.

So I am sticking to £400 :)

Fair answer.

I didn't like that he said "as uk has most lazy people in the planet they have to pay 450 pounds anyway"

Absoloutely no need for that comment and complete and utter BS
