New Headphones/Headset ~£50

Do not, whatever you do, have your headphones on and at max volume when you run those burn in files x.x

I originally had a pair of Sennheiser HD595 for 3 years, with the warranty out I sold them on eBay for £110, they only cost £120 new and I also kept the headphone stand bracket. :D

Having read this thread yesterday as well as other threads regarding these cans, I decided to purchase a pair of Panasonic RP-HTF600-S. :)

really liking em, had em all majority of last night, ears dont get anywhere near as warm as with my old NS1000s

I'm in two minds wether or not to grab a hook for em as the pads swivel out and can sit flat on the desk :p

Listened to all sorts of music and a few new bits too great performace/price

My only slight gripe is that my ears get a bit sweaty with the PVC ear pads, but you can get velour replacements... although they are about £20.

I'm on the look out for a new set of headphones mainly for Blu Ray movies and was wondering how the Panasonic RP-HTF600E-S perform?

gonna get pannys thursday! the cable has gone on my ns1000's and have 2 cracks in them and im fed up of putting batteries in them!

are the Panasonic just as good as ns1000's in NC mode? im also using fiio f5 amp aswell!

I think it probably comes down to the individual. I've seen someone say they are as good as the NS1000's, but others may have a differing opinion.

Sound is such a personal thing, that many people can have such varying opinions on any pair of headphones.

Exact same happened to mine mate, send em back for a refund.
The NS1000's as standard have a 2 year warranty.
If however you didn't purchase direct from Goldring you need to speak to the store you purchased them from. I had a loada hassle with my retailer before they agreed to refund. Had to get an email from goldring documenting the warranty terms and that a claim would be needed to be made with retailer under SoGA.

As for the Pannys I'm very happy with them, my ears get noewhere near as warm as they did with the NS1000's. Also these are far more comfortable, which I was worried about. I think a pair of velour earpads would be a nice littel upgrade however.

Soudn wise I've had a bash around in a few games, used TS/Vent and watched some TV and the like on it, fantastic clarity. Seems a lot less "mixed" than the NS1000's and all of the different parts of say like music are very distinguishable. and of course, they don't need batteries :p

However,
They are nowehere near as closed as the NS1000's the missus does say they leak a lot more sound and I can (When Im not playing things loud) hear things like if the missus has the TV on and it's loud (be aware tho Im only a few metres from the TV atm). The NS1000's always made me feel like "under water" lol. For the price I couldn't be happier like, very very light too and seems of a decent build quality. As for the lack of a mic I've ordered a modmic (www.modmic.com) this along with my Xonar DG should make a nice littel cost effective setup :)

EDIT:
I never used the NS1000's with an amp and currently don't haev an amp to test.
I am using the middel setting on the Asus DG HEadphone amp tho and dfid on the NS1000's

got the pannys coming tomorrow looking forward to using them?

how long roughly it take to break them in?

sorry to resurrect an old thread but it's the only one i could find the panasonics in, didn't see the point in making another one...

How do the panny RPHTF600ES's compare to sennheiser HD555s? My sennheisers just broke and i've ordered the panny ones for £40 (hopefully i've not paid over the odds?) but would like to know what differences to expect :)

More bass, more in your face kind of sound, I would say, going by what has been said about them. 555's are more laid back and airy. 555's probably have a larger sound stage.

HTF600's do need some time, before you judge them. A few people were not bowled over by them, on first hearing them, but found they improved quite a bit with burn in. Whether that is the headphones changing, or just the user getting used to them, is open to opinion.

Just a quick update, since I've been using my panny's pretty much daily since getting them.. The earpads on them have gone extremely hard/brittle and have started cracking.

Other than that still in one piece with my antlion attached to the side, used some cable wrap to keep the cabling tidy.

any idea's for replacement earpads?
