Upgraded from 8-16GB at £49.99 for Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2x4GB) with Blue LEDs I could not resist, fast, cheap, and sooo pretty. The improvement in Photoshop is very noticeable.

I found that when I went up to 16gb of Corsair Vengeance (2x8GB), borrowed another 16gb of Corsair Vengeance (2x8GB) to make 32gb & Photoshop is even more impressive & responsive..

Me too, years ago my start-up list would include AV and that was it, now there's all sorts that load up n even less time dut to having an SSD and plenty of ram to handle it all :)

How attitudes change :) I try to use my ram as much as possible now.

One tip is to go into 'Folder & Search Options':

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Then go to the 'View' tab & scroll down to 'Launch folder windows in a seperate process'

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

What this will do is give you two 'Explorer.exe' processes. One for handling the taskbar & start menu etc & a second for handling all the windows you open (i.e. control panel, folders etc)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

This will help if one of your folder windows locks up of crashes, it won't bring down the entire desktop, just the currently open folders etc. A great way to use that extra ram.

2*4GB. its always cached up so must make a big difference to only having 4gb which wouldnt have enough room :p
2 spare slots for if i ever need any more in the next 4 years.

when do you notice the improvements?
Truth be told pretty much all the time,
ive regularly got a game minimised and photoshop and dreamweaver running.
Been constantly folding for the last month and tv/video running on another screen.
System has only been restarted once in that time and that was due to an install.
Prior to the ram increase id get system lag when playing games so much id have to close other programs or restart.

12gb ddr3.
Was a cheap good kit with 3x4gb and part of my i7 upgrade.

Went from q6700 &6gb & GTX260 216sp OC > i7 940& 12gb&GTX570... ( oh and an SSD for OS)
6g is mostly enough though, 4gb runs out in some situations.

Can run all my crap at once now, don't want to go back to being sparingly with resources, usually have about 80-90 processes.

16GB (4x4GB) 1866MHz DDR3 filling all banks of Sandybridge mobo. Cost £160 in January 2011, you can now get them for £100.

Main use is video rendering (uses 80% RAM) / PS (typically 5GB) with a bit gaming chucked in of course where BF3 uses 2.5GB alone. 8GB is enough for most tasks bar full HD rendering unless you have a fast SSD as a cache drive. Windows right now with browser open is using 2.7GB with most running processes Windows or hardware related.

I went from 8GB to 16GB when it was cheap, but tbh I've never noticed any difference at all from 4GB upwards.

Finally got around to getting 8Gb, so my very modded Fallout 3 should run now without running out haha ( 2x4Gb Corsair Vengeance) :p
