Afternoon

Got rid of my 580 recently, for reasons unknown. Well, mostly that kepler is coming out and i didnt want to see it go down in price ( which it did, as you can get it from ocuk for 300 now ) good timing i must say. Anyway.

I bought sapphire 6870 1gb from my mate, well cheap, 50£ will get another 1 to xfire, as i heard many good things about the cards and how they xfire.

I would like an aftermarket cooler on both of them.

My gtx 580 had accelero xtreme plus ii, i am not prepared to put 2 of those on 6870 as coolers cost over 100£. Accelero twin turbo ii is the one i am looking at

Can anyone suggest a cooler, or maybe watercooling. Never done that so might be hard to start

Is yours loud as well then? Mine sounds like concorde starting up at 50%+ fan speed. Luckily it isn't fully utilised by some games but ones where it's at 100% usage (e.g. BF3) it's not great :(

Not really loud, i think actual stock stock design are terrible, with the fan at the end, this has fan in the mid but i still want to replace it. I think ZALMAN VF3000A would be perfect but not sure if its compatible

Amazing coolers. If it fits you're in for a treat :)

Arctic twin turbo might be worth a look. It's three slots soo will fit your motherboard, although you'd lose all lower expansion slots. I think arctic also do a single 120mm fan cooler now as well, which should do well.

dude why not just wear headphones/put your box under the desk/set up a fan profile/clean out the cooler/buy a better intake fan for your PC, if you buy a bunch of coolers for your GFX cards you'll just be wasting all that money you saved by selling your 580 early.

IMO unless you're buying a cooler to overclock a really high end card you're better off just saving the money for your next purchase

Bang for buck on 3rd party coolers is just a waste

Depends how long you plan on keeping the card to be fair. If it's a really loud card (e.g. 480) and you plan to keep it for a while then a cooler makes sense to purchase if the sound bothers you.

Its better just to get a card with a quiet cooler in the first place if you dislike noise. Having said that 50 quid for it you cant say no really. I got a asus directcu 570 as i wanted very quiet cooling, and i can hardly hear it even at 1.15v and 900mhz, so im delighted with it. Maybe you should sell it and get a quiet card as it is only going to get noisier if you crossfire.

I will get another to xfire, and i would like to keep cards up untill kepler and then ivy bridge release. I might even keep them if there would be no point to upgrade. I am looking at Accelero S1 PLUS passive cooler with 2 akasa vipers on top, connected to fan controller. In theory they should fit, and come with extra sinks for vram chips. How does that sound, anyone tried? :D

EDIT: How about xfire? can i put xfire bridge accross? seems unlikely
