Can't find a thread on this.

For a HBO series, this doesn't seem to have been hyped up for some reason. Maybe it's because it's horse racing?

The cast includes Dustin Hoffman, Dennis Farina, Nick Nolte and Michael Gambon. Series was created by David Milch with Michael Mann as executive producer.

Trailer here:

It seems to get some promising reviews but it seems some may be put off by some horse racing 'jargon'.

1st episode is Feb 18th on Sky Atlantic. I may well wait for the blu ray.

I was dissapointed by the first episode, but the series has potential.
David Milch, creator of deadwoods the creator of this as well + the cast has some impressive names.

I hope they go in the right direction, we all know HBO shows take some time to get going. :D

Been looking forward to this. It will be on at 21:00-22:15 then repeated:

Sunday 19th at 00:05
Tuesday 21st at 23:00
Wednesday 22nd at 22:15

I've only watched the 1st episode and can understand if anyone hasn't watched it since. For non racing/betting fans, it would have been hard to follow what was going on.

I've read that it's worth persevering with though. Will most likely grab it on DVD or blu ray when it comes out as I can't be doing with adverts and week long breaks between each episode! :)

Also, I've just read that it's been given a 2nd season by HBO.

Okay, I'm really enjoying this series now :)

It oozes with the same kind of quality (in acting, writing and production) as shows like The Wire or The Sopranos. It certainly isn't an 'all action' type show, but I'm really starting to grow fond of the characters now. I can't wait to see how the series pans out...

Like others I was left a bit confused by the racing / betting terminology in the first episode, but a few minutes on wikipedia soon sorted (most of...) that out. I'd much rather shows take this kind of approach, than try to explain everything with pieces of dubious exposition...

Anyway, the show is really starting to get good, so I'd advise anyone who was uncertain about the first episode to stick with it - I'm certainly glad that I did :)

i forced myself to watch 3 episodes and found it pretty boring, i guess it has severally limited apeal to anyone who doesnt like horse racing

Ditto, guess I might as well delete them all from Sky+ now eh

yep, i really wish TV bosses would make descions on cancelling before the final 2 episodes of a season are filmed, at least that way they can bring a close to a show that people have invested time in. so many shows just get cut without an ending... leaves me bitter!

I'm not surprised this has been cancelled. Watched the first 3, it was terrible. What a waste of some good actors. Shame.
