Wassup guys. Can anyone tell me how good are 79xx series in 3D mode at 1080p. In games like BF3 Skyrim anything you play in 3D.
I was trying to find some results online but almost no one benches cards in 3D mode :(
Loads of multi monitor and high resolution ones.
Im trying to find out how good would they do over 69xx series. And after my crossfire experience im not going there. Setting TriDef ignition for games is more then enough messing around heh.

Just got a samsung s27a750d, still playing about with tha settings and not tried 3d yet, what games are you intrested in, soon as i get time i will give it a go, not bf3 as i dont have it

Generally you can halve the frame rate and then knock a couple of extra FPS off compared to the normal 2D speed in a particular title. The GPU has to do a little over twice as much processing, effectively, as it is creating a different version of the scene for each eye.

ye but

Ye but what would be faster 6950 CF or 7950 in 3d mode. Would 3D benefit more from 2 gpus over one ??
And if it goes for games. I play everything so just interested what sort of frame rages your getting while playing games.

Depending on the method of 3D I can offer some info there.

Games that work and go fast.

Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Dirt 2
Dirt 3
Fallout 3
Fallout New Vegas
Battlefield 3*
Crysis 2

* Seemed fine and perfectly fast enough. However, I just haven't played it much at all in 3D, maybe ten minutes to test it. I am still waiting on my friend to buy it as in single player it picks crust from backsides.

The only game that I had any problems with was Crysis. FRAPS was indicating 14 FPS and it looked like ass. However, I have read that that could have been half of what I was getting due to how the 3D works, but either way it wasn't a highly playable experience.

Edit. As for benching in 3D? I uploaded a few. However, it was pointed out that the FPS could actually be half due to the "side by side" way it works. I will see if I can find the thread for you.

Right. DP time as there are pics. I can't find the thread but I can find the pics.

However, NOTE - these could be half of the actual FPS.

I don't see why 2 GPUs would make a difference. The workload is no different in form to 2D processing, only in volume as each frame has to be produced twice (an alternate version of each frame for each eye). You can therefore compare the Crossfire setup in 2D to the single card solution in 2D and apply the logic above (a little under half the framerate) and there's your answer. I am sure many people here would agree that a single powerful card has many merits over multiple lesser cards. If you're purely focussing on performance - the smoother and more consistent (microstutter free) frames pumped out from a single card should be preferable for both 2D and 3D.

Depending on the 3D mode of choice here be careful.

IIRC DDD who make Tridef strongly suggest that you avoid Crossfire with 3D.

I think everything considered the single 79xx would be a better choice at the moment for Lord_ZED.
