Best monitor for under £150

23" or 24" is fine.

Would the LG be better than the Samsung S24A350H?

What does ISP stand for? And what makes this a good choice for Photoshop work?

IPS is a type of LCD panel technology that is more expensive than the extremely common TN panel technology. IPS panels offer better colour accuracy and wider viewing angles than TN panels - however they tend to be worse for pixel response time, so for things like fast-paced games more ghosting may be seen on an IPS compared to a TN.

If you are mainly using photoshop then an IPS panel would be a big bonus as the colour accuracy and wide viewing angles (so when you're looking dead-on at the monitor and move your head a bit, the colours don't shift - unlike on a TN) are very useful for image editing.

The LG IPS235V mentioned by FlyingPig is a very good option for a low-cost IPS panel monitor and should fit within your budget.

Hmmmm, Is 24" wide enough to need a wide viewing angle? Becuase I don't care if the color changes if Im stood up or the other side of the room because when I'm using it I'll be sat in front of it!!

Yes, with a 24in TN panel monitor - when looking at it straight-on you will see some colour banding at the extremes of the screen.

Some more information and good test tools here:

Most high street shops that sell non-Mac prebuilt desktop PCs should have some ~24in TN panel monitors you can test out personally, before you put your money down. If the same shop stock apple iMacs then you can compare the image quality and viewing angles - since the iMacs (and apple cinema displays) all use IPS type panels.

I've been thinking, if I decided to use the monitor for my xbox 360 as well would I be better off getting a TN panel monitor or would an IPS one be an improvement from a HD TV??
