Looks like the OLED TV revolution is starting...

Welcome to two months ago :p

There's a thread knocking about on here from when the reveal was made at CES, along with the Samsung TV as well.

These will be as expensive as plasmas were when they first came out. Be at least 5 years before anybody can make a 'best OLED for £500' thread. Still, it's the way forward tech-wise (as long as you can calibrate the thing properly!).

yup, forget it...... waste of money, there's also a laser RPTV, but i dont think that works properly yet

and i bet this new tv wont be much good either, it always takes a few years to get it right

8 000 dollars :D, so i think in a recession like now that this will be a waste of money, especially when i can get a 60'' plasma for 850 quid

$8000, so probably over £5K, lulz. There will be rich early adopters though, and the prices will gradually trickle down, much like that £20K Sony 4K projector being the first of it's kind for home use.

I can't see the point in 4mm thick tv's unless the price is equal to top quality LED's.

Most tv's are in the corner of the room anyway. Who hasn't got 15mm to spare?

Good point.

In fact, I suspect that "compromises" will have been made to get it that thin. Reliability and "repairability" come into play when you start trying to fir a lot of tech into a small space.

whats the big deal? my projector screen is 1080p, 2mm thick, has no bezzel, no motion blur, and is whatever size i want :D

obviously contrast n blacks in day light conditions before anyone posts :p

I would imagine by the the time OLED TVs are affordable for the general consumer, we'll be looking at 4k res displays too, which is equally if not more exciting. Hopefully 4k monitors will precede this - e.g. Apple doing 'retina' iMacs/Macbooks.
