Video Proof of defective motherboard!

Hello

I've finally got some video proof on that my motherboard is faulty.

Basically the story is that the power would randomly cut off and restart my computer and sometimes the computer would switch off completely and will be unable to turn itself on until I unplugged the power cable from the motherboard (see video).

I'm pretty sure that it might be the motherboard as when this happens, it seems like the BIOS and time gets reset and it says something with the CMOS (which I was told shouldn't happen unless you unplug the CMOS).

Here is the video of what happens, I clearly demonstrate that it doesn't work.

I would love to RMA this but the problem is, it happens randomly. So I was hoping to use this as proof so that OcUK could replace it for me.

Do they accept video proof?

It's probably just the angle, but is there a gap between the case and the motherboard?

Any chance of a photo of the pins that appear burnt? something close up we can focus on to see for sure? If it appears discoloured it'll probably lead you to the cause if the issue.

Its most likely the angel, the motherboard is screwed on securely onto the case so there are not wobbly gaps or anything.

And i'll try and get a picture. From the video it does look like the top left 3 pins have some burning on it.

So you're saying there is no gap or yes there is a gap?

Yeah there is a gap!

Phew :D And as you had a PSU blow previous, that may have contributed to the issue. Ultimately the main 24pin connector from the component that failed is showing damage, it isn't a stretch to consider it related.

Not sure how it changes things mind.

Because motherboards usually don’t fry their own 24 pins.

Usually down to user error or PSU issues.

Hmmm more than likely it was the PSU which is another problem added. So even if it was the PSU which caused it (which was bought from OcUK as well) would that mean they will still refuse an RMA?

Yeah this is a big problem... I've been wanting a new motherboard since the first one was a DOA... But now if I do get a new one, I have the PSU to worry about incase it screws up my new motherboard... D:

What do you guys suggest?

I don't think it matters where you bought the PSU from.

Do you still have the PSU?

How old was it when it failed?

What brand was it?

Well in my opinion, you've got a motherboard that is not working correctly and showing damage, I say raise an RMA with OcUK and see what happens.

Have you tried a new motherboard battery? I don't understand why the CMOS would reset simply by disconnecting the power. Check that the CMOS reset jumper is not a loose contact as well.

It's possible that a blown PSU caused some damage but it will be hard to prove if so, most retailers won't test an item for more than 5mins.

Also, what temps are you getting? it looks as if your CPU fan is blowing downwards which is a bit retarded if so... heat rises so you want it blowing either upwards or to the back of the case towards an extractor fan.
