Well, Ferrari have stated time and time again, that in the opening races of the season, they are going to lose ground. The question is: how soon can they begin to take advantage of what is a new and very complex car. Potentially, Ferrari may well have the fastest car on the track, but if it becomes the fastest by race 18, they championship will already be lost.
At this stage, it might be an idea for Ferrari to use the races to test the car, to speed up development of it. If this means putting experimental parts on it, during the races, then so be it.
Anyway, lets just wait and see what happens. In 3 hours we shall know just how quick all the cars are.
