Thinking of moving from Sky LLU to BT (save money). I only get 3mb anyway, so hopefully BT will get something close to that?

Am i making a big mistake? Only a moderate 15gb a month user.

Well i think BT are no worse than any other isp i,m with BE and there going down the toilet slowly :( Fibre is just a dream with them where BT at least have Fibre service :) you will hear bad stories about every isp in the uk its what humans do complain ha! :)

How would you save money, unless you don't have any other Sky package as it's only £7.50 a month + line rental. BT was more expensive for us for a worse service...

Provided you don't play games and don't mind being heavily throttled and managed at peak times then BT is fine. It will be a BT wholesale line whichever non LLU you go to, how good an experience you have will depend on how much bandwidth your ISP pays for and how many users they try and cram into it. In BT retails case that'll probably be not much and loads respectively.

How much are you paying Sky?

I'm with BT, pings are always 100% solid, this is what I care about the most.

Torrent downloads don't really work between around 6pm and midnight, they just trickle really slowly. Doesn't bother me personally.

BT are good when it works and it mostly just works - torrent traffic aside I've seen no throttling for months and months now and ping times are fine gaming is acceptable you may get slightly more stable gaming on some specialist ISPs but its pretty good generally.

The problem is when it goes bad it tends to be quite bad as their customer service is beyond inept... but once you've exhausted the frontline monkeys you can just do as I've done and escalate to executive level complaints and it gets sorted very quickly and efficently... shame you have to restort to that to get things fixed tho.

Bt for me is woeful, terrible speeds, throttled every evening from 6.00 to 11.00 ono, makes gaming an absolute nightmare. Im on option 3, upto 8mb, rarely see it above 2mb. Id like to get their fibre installed, but it's not looking likely where i live. Though friends in smaller villages a few miles from me have had it for over a year now.

One thing though, I find the Homehub dire, drop kicked it down the stairs and replaced it with a Billion 7800N.

BT Wholesale deal with ISPs like TalkTalk, Plusnet and etcetera. BT Retail are the company that you would be dealing with, they offer broadband to home and business customers and they get the services they offer from BT Wholesale.

but are you getting tv with your Sky deal, thus anytime+ etc.
If you do want to save some money, then perhaps BT would be good, but I also reckon you'd have a worse service. Pays your money and takes your pick I guess
