Lets cut to the point, when my computer starts up,
the gpu gives out a rattling/whine noise for a couple of minutes then it goes away,
read somewhere that it could be the capacitors warming up,
should i be worried?

also, i have 2 monitors hooked up, 1 via DVI and the other through a VGA>DVI adapter,
now the problem is when i overclock the gpu slightly,
the 2nd monitor flickers everytime i click the mouse or hit a key,
does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem?

should i be thinking of RMAing the card?

thanks in advance.

I would use two dvi cables... one in each dvi port (my hd5770 is dual dvi)... this will help your card out massively... mainly because two high res monitors via ONE output will stress the GPU a bit and overclocking will not help.

if you have dual dvi... use one cable per monitor and plug each monitor into each port.

or if you have a vga and dvi, just use them and/or hdmi and dvi etc... what ever you have on that card..

yeah the GPU is dual DVI.

my main monitor, 1080x1024 is connected via a DVI cable to one of the DVI donnectors on the card.

my second monitor has a res of 1024x768 and only has VGA connection, therefore i am currently using a VGA>DVI adapter to connect it to the card.

I have used both the DVI connectors on the card, one for each monitor.

do you have any idea on whats causing the rattling/whining noise during start up, everything is left at stock at the minute.

Erm sounds a little dodgy in my mind.

What power supply are you using?

Could be the card is under too much stress with two monitors running on it, but for a 5770 which is a great little card, this is unlikely.

Could be a bad card OR bad drivers.

Uninstall the drivers via control panel or similar.

Downloed Driver Sweeper and make sure it gets rid of anything AMD! You will be ok as your CPU is Intel :P

Restart your pc, go to the AMD website and download the latest drivers and install them... if the problem continues, try the older 11.12 drivers instead of the newer 12.1 drivers.

If this doesn't work... then sounds like a bad card!

hi, just ran Driver Sweeper, screen looks funny atm.

have found this on the AMD website "Catalyst Software Suite" Rev. Number 12.2.

sorry for so many questions.

thanks for all your help so far :)

PS. PSU is a CoolerMaster GX550w, so plenty of power :)

Edit:
installed the "Catalyst Software Suite" Rev. Number 12.2. , overclocked the gpu slightly, still flickers when i refresh the desktop, should i install the driver from the Asus website?
