Any reason that people don't really mention these guys on this forum? I'm just a bit curious, with their latest smart phone the "Ascend D quad XL", they are making some massive claims of great performance (looking to be pretty good): http://www.androidauthority.com/huawei-ascend-d-quad-benchmark-64260/, being 20-50% cheaper than rival brands and having a massive battery life on top, win, win and win?

What gives? Is it an awful brand? Bad experiences? Dodgy customer service? Everyone seems to mention HTC and Samsung, but not these guys. Just curious as to why.

My gf has a Huawei Blaze and it's a great little phone, the screen is a bit weird on the responsive side, but for the price and if you want something Android for simple browsing, Facebook etc it's perfect.

There's nothing wrong with them, it's just that their phones aren't all that readily available yet.

I don't know if things like the camera would be very good either, that's more important than winning benchmarks.

They have no history/heritage of making good phones - only they can help themselves with a quality product. It's a very tough market - with even huge brands like sony being pushed aside.

I have a cheap Huawei phone from a few years ago, and it's indestructible! I'm not joking either, it's been run over twice, and dropped in the bath! Along with many other bumps and scrapes while working in the garden.

If this phone is anything like that cheap one for build quality, it will do fantastic.

Thanks so far.

@Kona The Huawei claims to do some things better than other phones though they really need to be shown when the phones are sent out for reviews so we can see if the claims are correct. They are right now that: The phone will cost less than competing phones, the phone will have a battery life which can last 2 days under normal usage, and it will have better performance than competing phones using Tegra 3.

Of course you need to look at other factors, like screen quality, camera quality, software etc. so taking all of these into account will be the decider of what is better. I was just curious as to why when a company is claiming these types of things, are people not really taking notice, I thought there may have been a reason like poor support or bad customer service as to why people avoid them, but it doesn't seem to be the case. HTC is a more known brand for sure, but if these guys can provide a better phone, for less, I think I'd go with that, unless returns and repairs is a total nightmare.

(Also I like the look of it, but personal preference.)

I agree that if the Huawei Ascend D Quad XL is a good heandset people will nptice the brand more - it must have all the bases covered like great screen, camera, storage, build quality, batterylife, updates etc.

If they can nail that then they can start competing.

My Dad's company just got bought by Huawei. They are expanding fast and I think they'll be a player comparable to HTC, Samsung and LG pretty soon.

I like the look of the Ascend D Quad, and I like that it's running stock Android too.

Starting to look good for them then maybe. I hope this phone will be good.

Depends on the SGS3 too I guess.

They are a better known company in the USA, and judging from the namedropping a US friend did, a fairly respectable bran over there. I think it's just they haven't broken into the european markets yet.

It's certainly a nice looking phone!

They remind me of HTC, HTC started out as a very modest company making phones for the carriers, They gave good community support and there name got bigger, There a top brand now and maybe there getting a bit big for their boots but i think they are seeing there errors now
