What spec for media / TV server

Strange thread to link to. That's from version 3 of the software, currently on version 4 and that's related to a client problem whereas my issue is from server load :D

My school technician was telling me how great the i5 2400S are for low power usage - the whole school had an upgrade and they all use them now.

T = 35w
S = 65w

Apparently for the 30w difference, S is worth it in the performance gain.

You know better than me dude. I'm doing some noob googling and have zero knowledge of capture cards :D

However one thing still stands. What are the manufacturers system requirements and if you exceed them why is the software using 100% of your cores ?

This is what they say for mobile steaming:For mobile devices streaming system should have a minimum of Intel i3 or AMD Athlon/Phenom II x2 CPU

Sorry then yes that is what is happening.

The server has the 4 tuners being fed from the satellite dish.
These are then served up via windows 7 media center to any of the clients in the house.

The server handles the decryption of the channels and the then the stream is available to the client for viewing.

Using this I suppose...

http://www.dvblogic.com/netpack.php Ahhh even worse Windows 7 media center grrrrrrrrr

Then you Sir are going to need 1.21 Jiggawatts and a flux capacitor. :p

Either that or work out a cleverer way to do this ;)

/me is not surprised !!! :)

Try looking in to DLNA servers or VLC and do away with the netpack. Whatever is happening the re-streaming is inefficient

I'm out, you're smart enough to work this out for yourself :)
