Well it's that time of year guys, end of the normal season, positions finalised etc

I play for Rossendale Raptors. This year the club decided to enter a team into the National League. You have to start in D4 and then work your way up. We had high hopes of at least finishing top half of the table, but did not imagine 12 months ago we would be where we are now!!

Fantastic feeling, now to battle it out in the playoffs!

We finished the season top of the northern division 4 with 20 wins and 2 losses, and i think it was a 17 game win streak. This puts us 2nd best in the country in terms of record, so get home court advantage against 7th best in the first round of the playoffs :)

I only started playing 18 months ago after 5 years off and gaining lot of weight, so to get to this stage already is awesome....lost 5 stone of that weight too :)

Last time i won a national league medal was when i was 17. This is my third or 4th of the top of my head, but my first senior league one :)

Anyone else play national league? Perhaps see someone in the playoffs? :p

Tom.

Well done Tom, scarily you're not the tallest but clearly the most handsome :D

I've got decent balls skills for someone who has never played out of school it seems but I think I'll stick to cycling!

Nice one Tom! That's awesome considering how long you hadn't played for before starting again. I was going to play for Mold this year so would have played against you, but because I my very sporadic work commitments at the start of the season and since getting a different job I haven't been able to play. :(

<3 Basketball. Need to do it more - I've been mugging myself off for a long time now by not.

One of our old players, in fact the twin brother of one our current players plays for mold, Pas Kornecki.

We've had some right polava with the playoffs, quarter final was Saturday just gone but it got called off 30 minutes after we were meant to tip off as one of the refs didn't turn up! He'd forgotten to check the rota :/ this is a semi pro league and the last stages !!! The team we were facing we're luckily only from 20 miles away, but they could have been from anywhere imagine travelling from say Plymouth to have the game cancelled!!

Stockport keep refusing our proposed rematch dates, so it's up to EBL now to sort out :/ ebl won't move the semi final back either from this Saturday, so we only have Thursday or Friday tO play it now!!!

NOt what we wanted.

Forgot to update this thread!

Well, after beating stockport, we went on to beat crawley too, putting us into the Playoff Final.

Last weekend, we travelled down to Kent to play the undefeated Worcester Wolves...the only team in D4 nationwide to have not lost a single game! well, until they played us ;)

:D

Awesome stuff mate! I've only recently started playing again. Same situation as you, played a lot at School/University then stopped and put on a load of weight when I left. Managed to get to the finals in the intramural league. Never had enough time to attend the Uni practices.

Now I'm playing with the Bristol Lazy Boys club just to get myself back in shape. Will probably start heading up to Filton Wise once I'm able to keep up again

Was pretty popular when I was at secondary school all those years ago as a couple of the teachers were basketball coaches, one was/is the england junior coach.

I was a short arse though so wasn't for me :p

I used to play power forward at school and whenever I played with the uni team (just for practice, I was never good enough to play for the team), although my 3 point range was good. :)

Kinda miss playing loved playing in the States on proper sprung wood floors.

Powerforward? You're only just over 6 foot if i remember correctly?

Must've been one short ass team :D :D Although saying that I'm playing powerforward at the moment, but I'm really a shooting guard. I'm more of a step off and shoot PF than a post up and go to the hole post player though, I've got a very fast/explosive release on my jumpshot :)

I'm a short arse but I was explosive and was good at drawing fouls and getting rebounds. Our centre was only 6'6. Then again even if I played short forward in taller teams I still was called power forward seeing as I was fairly chunky! Lol! I wasn't nimble or good enough with the ball to be a shooting or point guard. Forward was "my position" - it just seemed well suited to me. :)
