I need to buy a new fridge freezer, so any useful advice welcome.

- Don't mind paying for good quality, but I don't do ultra expensive.
- Thinking about Bosch, LG, maybe Samsung. Who else is good?
- Space available is 57cm deep, 75cm wide and 225cm high.
- What are neat features to look for?
- What is this frost free business?
- Think I will prefer white over stainless steel as easier to clean.

All thoughts/comments much appreciated.

Thanks

Frost free, a marketing tool, you still have the "frost" just hidden behind a panel.

Do you want a 50/50, 70/30 or American style?

Samsung, LG, you might get a Rangmeaster at the top end of your budget.

Some of the cheaper Bosch stuff is made in Poland and not the quality of the German Bosch kit.

Don't go near Currys or Comet own brands.

What are you on about? Frost free freezers don't have frost on the food, making them 'frost free' and you also don't get the huge ice build up that you do with non frost free freezers - again, hence the term 'frost free'.

It's a good thing to have in your freezer.

I have a samsung 250 or something. It is far from expensive 220 quid ? and hope it lasts another few years until the whole kitchen needs redoing. There isnt too much choice when you buy an integrated unit and not a free standing one.

i got an AEG 50/50 fridge freezer, with temp display for freezer/fridge and temp control on both.

big plus is the alarm, if it goes above temp, for instance door open, it sounds a beep.

saves burning the thing out, it has an enourmous veg/fruit drawer at bottom too.

I don't 'get' the American-style double door side-by-side jobbies. They're huge and look impressive, but they appear to be a very skinny fridge and a very skinny freezer, quite often with masses of space lost to drink/ice dispensers.

Is this true or am I being fooled by lack of perspective and these things are actually huuuuuge and therefore usable?

They're this TBH. I used to sell one or two every 6 months or so back in the late '90's before they became mainstream. They're also more energy efficient than they used to be but really they only belong in a very large House or garage IMO. :p

Frost free is not about frost or ice being on the food.
