HP ipaq 6915 - Can I without Windows?

I just been given one of these phones...

Looks decent I suippose, but its a bit lacking in... well everythign really.

I have Windows but I dont use Windows Media player to organise my media, I use what is affectionately know to normal people as Folders.

Anyway, it seems that the only way to get Media onto this pile of Shi... I mean, onto this phone is to use WMP and the active sync thing.

Not interested.

And to organise the contacts, is to use Outlook..

Very much not at all interested.

So, is there alternative software that will do it, or is this really a non option for it.

Are you sure you need to use Active Sync for the music? My old WM phone allowed me to just attach it as a USB drive and drag it across. I thought that was the same with all WM phones?

Well, thats just it!

No matter where I drag the files, and no matter what file type I use, the bloody thing simply will not see it never mind play it?

I have used the search function of the player to include the files or rather the folders but nope, it simply will not play a thing.

And that is of course because it just will not accept that its even there... All files are completely invisible to it.

There are a few files on the thing, and these play just fine. There are some music tracks and a couple of videos that the previous owner has put onto it, and these play fine, but nothing that I have put on it so far has bothered to.

So I am very much stabbing in the dark.

Ah ok, Have you tried installing another music player?

I'm probably telling you to suck eggs but haven't got much else to go on. I found core player was pretty good.

I use WinAmp for Music an KMP for Video.

Always used WinAmp, never considered anything else since its first ever edition.

Core player? Ok, I will have a play... As long as it does not mean that I have to move my Media around.. Id rather not bother at all TBH. With just over 150 Thousand albums all ordered simply in E:\MP3\ARTIST\ALBUM\TRACK order, I dont need a stupid program to organise my stuff.

No, Install core player on your iPaq not your computer.

Then try and see if it will play the music and videos you drag and drop.

LOL yeah, I realised that when I went to look for it.

I coiuld only find a version to go onto the phone but not the PC... Took a while but the penny dropped soon enough.

I haev downloaded it but not yet tried it... Been having a funky day today. Just finished work, bought a new PSU and had to take the kids bowling and when I got back, the power was out in the street and all I can think of was the new PSU caused it?

Oh bugger, just got a message from ebay tellign me the cooler I was bidding on has been sold.... Typical.
