One must make the point, though... The only real problems with Islamic fundamentalism are the fundamentals of Islam.Religion would be all fine and dandy were it not for fanatics and zealots.
Who are you and how do I vote for you?I will make London a bacon of salami.

in general a politician supporting a religious minority who face discrimination such a Muslims do in the UK is very positive step. But flirting with the people at one extreme of that religion who embrace the very worst stereotypes of Muslims is not constructive at all.
I never read it that way if taken in the context of what he said:The term is used similarly as in 'a beacon of light', meaning that the message of the writer is that he hopes to turn London into a place 'oozing / radiating' with Islam.
Mr Livingstone, Labour’s candidate for mayor of London, pledged to “educate the mass of Londoners” in Islam, saying: “That will help to cement our city as a beacon that demonstrates the meaning of the words of the Prophet.” Mr Livingstone described Mohammed’s words in his last sermon as “an agenda for all humanity.”
In a few generations the majority of Muslims will treat religion the same as most Christians do in this country, celebrate the good bits and go a bit lax on the harder stuff.![]()
This isn't a negative thing! In this country we have a massive problem with Muslims not integrating, and as such with terrorism. Perhaps if the non-Islamic population understood the (frankly dreadful) religion a bit better then Muslim immigrants will be able to integrate better reducing racism.
