Removing rubber from plastic...

Anyone know how to do this quickly with some kind of solvent?

I plan on removing part of my car interior (centre console), stripping the rubber then recoating it in spray on rubber.
I have already done this with a tray but it took hours and hours of scrubbing to remove the rubber... and that was on something small.

Heat it up with a hairdryer maybe and it may slide of easier?

I tried a couple of methods on the test run, including a hair dryer. It didn't work very well.
The best method seemed to be really hot water and then peeling the rubber layer off, this took a lot of scrubbing though.
Razor wasn't too bad either but left a couple of marks so I stopped using that.
I tried sanding with wet and dry which did a pretty good job but again was quite a bit of hard work and took bit of time to get right down to the plastic.
Lastly I tried the dremel, this did a brilliant job and quite quickly BUT it left a couple of marks where I had focused on too long. It was also difficult to get into crevices.
