Im not sure if I'd get another Samsung, I think maybe just bad luck on the item I picked.. it depends on the features and price I guess

Ideally I think something cheap to repair would be good aswell, not sure if its just Samsung that seem to be hard to source parts for or not.

My mum has a Samsung one, its amazing (then again our last fridge was some mini thing under a work surface that didn't work so we hug this one sometimes)

Anyway its been class, can fit a dog in it and the only problem was getting it in the house (it was big in the packing)

Hah yeah I have a similar issue, have to take out the middle window pane to get the fridge freezer in, aswell as the sofa :D

Samsung parts are really easy to get hold of, have you had trouble?

Got our first side by side fridge, a Samsung monster, stainless steel. It is a thing of beauty! Just got to plumb it in and the supplied pipe is too short.

Yeah the part I wanted couldnt be found anywhere.. would have been for the fridge part as thats the bit that died. Also tried Homeserve (to use their immediate warranty thing) and they couldnt do it, as a side note they messed me around.. asked for monthly payments they took the whole thing, so I emailed the ceo and got it resolved, even got the callout charge back :)

I love em lol, took out a radiator to put mine in but luckily its right next to the boiler :D

don't forget some american style freezers need a water pipe fitting, others rely on the reservoir being topped up.

Kitchen is next to garage & utility, the fridge is opposite the kitchen sink, only way to get water is to drill hole into garage and garage into utility....:D I will have chilled water.. quite tempted to tap it into a keg of beer.... :D

we have a plumbed in LG one that's very similar to the LG GWL227HSYA American Style Fridge Freezer Brushed Steel. Its slightly different as our model probably isn't made any more but it has everything that the above one does. I dont know how we ever managed without it tbh.

My parents had a Samsung one and it broke after a couple of years. They just replaced it with a standard fridge/freezer in the end.

What part was it, was this recent?

That. Is. Genius. If you work out how to do it, do post :D

"backplate/fan, fridge evaporator, two heaters - 9705290e" thats what I have in my .txt file from the repair around november time

When I was searching for it, everywhere had it out of stock but since this, I've noticed the freezer is slightly warming up (the ice in the dispenser is melting a little and all sticking together and then refreezing, meaning it won't come out of the hole (ooeer!?) :( so thats possibly another separate issue? Not sure if the parts I need deal with both the fridge and the freezer.

Basically in my fridge/freezer. I have: freezer on the left, fridge on the right. Inside the fridge is a set of three draws, luckily they are all staying chilled and have their own temperature controller. Its the top half (the shelves) that arent cooling and are staying at room temperature.

The other day I was struggling to close the draws so I took them out and there was ice all over the back of what looks like some kind of plastic radiator I guess? Which is odd I think in the fridge compartment for there to be ice! Since I cleared all of this ice off, the temperature gauge on the front now displays the temperature of the shelves accurately (12-14c depending on time of day, which is right as that half isnt cooling anymore) but inside the draws have a separate gauge that says "1c" and to the touch, it seems about right.. I set it to the lowest to make sure everything in there was chilling correctly!

The fridge sometimes cools right down, as if it sometimes decides it wants to work but for the most part its given up. It did used to make a very loud noise at times but thats since stopped. Which is great as it was driving the dog nuts in the night time, she chewed all my kitchen door frame as high as she can reach!

Went for this yesterday: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/daewoo-frny22d2b-american-style-fridge-freezer-black-09848004-pdt.html I think thats what I said originally above.

Arrived today, had to put it through the window like last time :D

Only minor things that bug me that I'll forget about: The colour of the display on the front, looks retro and the can chiller isnt big enough for a standard beer can! I wonder if they do a different cover thats extended but its only a minor thing. Can always be used for other things :)

Inside the light is glorious, think new audi head lights :)
