So it either varies or no one actually knows for sure

It seems Mugen and GruppeM use K&N filters

But neither are OEM.... be interesting to see what the Mugen Civic RR's use though.

Anything other than paper is a bit silly when you have the ability to increase the size of parts. Im looking at something along those lines today and moving to two airboxs with paper is the solution rather than taking the paper filter out for freer flowing cotton or foam one.

There is something to be said for the piece cost of a cheap paper one when you're building cars though aswell as something with a frequent change interval.

EGR actually reduces NOx. It has a negative impact on CO2 emission reductions.

Can get more flow without paper, not that it matters if the paper is correctly specced.

EU5 and EU6 have been pretty clear about what cars can be sold in the UK with regard to their exhaust emissions
