I know I know - Chuck it in the bin and forget...

However, this one I received in my flat's own secure car park. Basically we have 1 permit per flat and I keep it in my car but forgot to display the permit after returning from a drive this afternoon. I am now worried if I don't pay they could clamp my car (or worse, tow it). Given the car is my new DB9 and is kept there 90% of the time, I don't really fancy them attempting to clamp or tow the car leading to damage.

Where do I stand on this? It's a £50 charge (careful not to use the word fine here...) if I pay within 14 days.

Cheers.

If you can afford a DB9 then pay the "charge". Not worth the risk of any damage to your car for the sake of £50.

I absolutely despise paying these scammers out of principle but I'm thinking, unfortunately, this is the way to go.

Unfortunately there are signs saying they will clamp / tow. My fault for not showing my permit I guess.

I was under the impression that they can't clamp for pre-existing offences. IE - if you left the car there illegally, they could clamp then tow. But if you are now parked legally, then they have no power to clamp while demanding payment for previous `infringements`.

Surely you therefore have 14 days to speak with them, have a conversation with a (hopefully) sensible person who isn't a jobsworth, and prove you have a permit? Wroth a go at least...

Do you pay anything to the building management for ground keep ect? We have the signs at our flats, the clamping is put there to protect the residents, get in touch with building management.

this is correct.

that isn't how these scum bags work, there is no "sensible" person on the end of the phone, just a piece of effluent who wants your money.
