ASUS F1A55-M LE and AMD APU A8-3870K

Hey guys,

Yesterday my friend ordered the above for a new upgrade he is planning, and I am now having second thoughts as to if this CPU will work with this motherboard? Would I be right in saying any FM1 CPU would work with any FM1 motherboard?

It'll be fine,they do indeed work in any FM1 boards.

but AMD seems to be the best route in his case.

The 3870k is not on the cpu support list although the 3670k is. At the very least it my need a bios flash as the 3670k needs bios 1003.

Damn! Thats annoying, its proberly not worth trying a BIOS flash, spose he should just get a 3850 becouse he won't need the overclocking of a K series. So there isn't really a way I can get this CPU working on this board?

Unless the board comes with the latest bios already on it it may not even be recognised. If it's not going to be clocked he may as well go for the cheaper 3850. It's only 100mhz slower and has the same gpu.

Yep cheers guys, he's returning the 3870K and is going for the 3850
