Can't you use a point where you stand then direct the flow of the spiders to it?

This is basically how it looks at the moment:

I could re-work it so that the crusher is where I stand, so the water and spiders comes back towards me. That should work, although it might be a little fiddly in the space, and would ruin the layout of my lair. At least it should work though.

Huge lag spikes in nether, root.tick exceeds 65% (normally about 10% in overworld) is there a nether specific plugin in operation?

Been a while since I visited the server, the End map is wiped and a new map has been generated. If you /spawn in the End you are embedded in the rock and suffocate, I've managed carve a small chamber before dying to prevent this happening to others. Could a mod set the spawn location in the End to the same slab of Obsidian you appear on as you enter the End.

I've not wandered out near the perimeter yet but curious as to whether the main map was prepared before deploying 1.2. By this I mean removal of extraneous map files outside the playable area, outside edge trimmed and any unrevealed chunks within old playable area generated. The reason I ask is that the map will be significantly messed due to already generated land in the extended border area limits which will create far more transition borders and limit area available for jungle generation as well as 1.2 land being generated in the previously unrevealed parts of the old playable area.
If no-one has built anything of significance in the newly extended borders it would still be possible to correct this if this is the case. Tried to access the map files to check but login is rejected.

Glad to see you back Sylvet :)

I've fixed "The End" spawn location so now you shouldn't get trapped, thanks for pointing this out. I did go in the end yesterday and didn't seem to have this issue.

As for the Nether lag we haven't got any multiworlds plugins or anything of the sort so I'm not sure what could be causing it?

Then for the map border its probably doubtful that FT trimmed it as it is nothing either of us mentioned so I'm not sure what his take would be on correcting it if it is wrong. I would say leave it as is as the biome changes should be too bad and is nothing a bit of landscaping can't fix :D

hey syl you still on steam?

I just started playing o noxygenes server for industrial craft/buildcraft, you should come try it. red power adds quite a few cool new blocks, and we could build anuclear reactor :p

Thanks for fixing that :), it only occurred if you typed /spawn, entering the End and respawning after dying were working fine.

Best to see if others see have the same experience, it didn't get any better after a server restart either.

It's no longer a biome data issue since the introduction of the Anvil map format, it is down to the use of the new terrain generator which rather than a single line of transition between the old world and extended world it will be quite haphazard all across and into the new areas, as people explore you will soon see it more clearly on the next cartograph. I did renders of what the map would look like by extending the map back when 1.2 was first released to see the impact of preparing the map in advance or not, think I posted some of them. The reason I was suggesting it now was to catch it before it is too late to correct.

Also be wary of using //regen in the old world areas as this will use the new terrain generator with unpredictable results.

Edit: typo's.

Yeah, not fired it up in over a month though, I don't have it running unless I'm playing a game on it.

Had a quick look at it, hope Oxygene has a good backup as you will probably end up nuking the entire map with an epic sized reactor :D

Been rather busy of late so only been having a brief look around the forums. I'll install the custom client and take a look around, have you established a build area somewhere?

On the LT server I ransacked as much as I could from the epic build on the 1.7 map before it closed so if you need a good chunk of supplies I can provide those.

I'm not against the idea of trimming things but no promises as it will depend on what has been built/whether or not it is a large chunk of work (given how busy I am until mid April).

No nether-specific plugins. Will check on lag spikes.

A few things clearly missed in the notes about the update. Problem with doing things when rushed I guess.

I've been having problems with spider spawners today.

Molinari, can I take a look at yours sometime please? I know it's not fully working, but I'm clueless. I have 4 spawners right next to each other with spiders but it's pretty close to bedrock so I can't do a drop, I was thinking about a crusher but I wouldn't know where to start. :)

I come on to make a bed and this enderman kills me. I don't know where my house is in relation to the starting point and there is no-one online. I've just lost all my crap.

*sigh*

Indeed you can, but there has definately been some changes with regards to spiders and the power that water has to move them :(. I'm going to change the design of mine at some point.

@GizmoTheMogwai: Install ReiMinimap mod, set a waypoint, jump to Spawn, and then you'll be able to see where your home is :).

Is there a way of dedicating some land so only you can build on it?
And if so how do you do it? lol

Cheers. :)
If you find an area of land, not too close to anyone else, that is free of builds (signs and torches too) you should be ok to build there. Make sure you put some signs up around the place saying that you're building there, and some torches too. Have a look at the carto, you should be able to find some nice areas of land there :). Ah okay, cheers molinari. :)

Maybe we can work together on a solution :)

The advantage mine's got is that my AFK point is right in the middle of all the spawns so the spiders should want to come towards that point, it's more actually building the mechanisms that I'm struggling with.

I have a single zombie spawner as well that hunter_pa is playing with and trying to turn into a grinder, so that one should be a little easier ^^

if no player comes into the area you where in then your stuff will stay in limbo for ever. as the timer for the chunk stops counting when it gets unloaded.
anychance you had a screen shot of the area? and had the f3 key pressed.
or if by chance you might have rei's mini map and have the death point enabled.

If you know of the general area we might be able to help you find your stuff/location. esp if there was a build near by.

RE: Nether lag

I first came across this issue when playing single player, so I think it's a bug in 1.23 rather than server lag. Quiting to the main menu and then going back in seems to get rid of it, but you have to do the same when returning to the main world too.

The mechanisms for moving the spiders are fairly easy once you've see them. Feel free to have a look when you see me online.
I've worked out a re-route so that the spiders come back towards my AFK point, so it will hopefully work again. I'm also in the middle of working on my Zombie spawner too.
